Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture — Seed Funding for Research and Training in Food Security

The Seed Fund for Research and Training (SFRT) is open to individuals in ASEAN member countries for competitive grants up to US$15 thousand in research and training related to agriculture and rural development. Applications are due before 01 August of each year. Link

Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture — Faculty and Student Mobility Grant

The SEARCA Faculty and Student Mobility Grant enables grantees to conduct their research work or take courses at selected Southeast Asian universities. The Faculty Mobility Grant is intended for regular employees of academic or research institutions, or government agencies. The Student Mobility Grant is open to ongoing graduate students at Southeast Asian universities. The applicant’s areas of specialization must be in the field of sustainable agricultural and rural development. Eligibility extends to nationals from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, or Vietnam. The scholarship provides roundtrip airfare, stipend for food, lodging, and incidental expenses. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. More about this scholarship

Earthwatch Institute — Earthwatch Shulman Awards 2019/20

The Earthwatch Shulman Awards provide research and training grants to early-career environmental scientists. The grant offers support to conduct scientific research, join and present at conferences and implement environmental research in the focus areas sustainable agricultural land management, urban green spaces (including gardens and parks), and reducing water pollution. Two selected projects will receive a grant of £4 thousand and four runners up will receive a grant of £500 to spend on conservation-based training. Reckitt Benckiser — Lead 2030 Challenge for SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation)

The Lead 2030 Challenge for SDG 6 seeks to increase water-use efficiency within households and drive responsible water usage. The challenge welcomes solutions that educate households (especially in countries and regions at greatest risk to the consequences of water scarcity) and drive innovative ways to reduce water usage through focused behavioral change methods or technological innovation. The winner will receive a US$50 thousand project grant and 12 months of mentorship from a team of RB professionals. The initiative must be youth-led (founded by a person aged 18 – 30). Mondi Group — Lead 2030 Challenge for SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production)

The Lead 2030 Challenge for SDG 12 seeks solutions that address necessary changes required to avoid unnecessary waste production. Projects can focus on alternative solutions for waste streams; retail recycling, consumer behavior, cross-industry collaboration; or the reduction of post-harvest losses. The winner will receive a US$50 thousand project grant and 12 months of mentorship from a team of Mondi Group professionals. The project must be youth-led (founded by a person aged 18 – 30). Mostra Ecofalante de Cinema Ambiental — Latin-American Film Competition 2020

The 9th ‘Mostra Ecofalante de Cinema Ambiental’ invites entries to the Latin-American Competition in Environmental Cinema. Socio-environmental categories include energy, water, climate change, consumption, people and places, environmental activism, accumulated waste, contamination or export, socio-environmental resources, green spaces, urban areas, food, green economy, globalization, wildlife, and sustainability, among others. Selected films compete in the categories Best Long Film by the Jury (over 60 minutes), with a prize of R$15 thousand; Best Short Film by Jury (up to 59 minutes), with a prize of R$5 thousand; and Best Film by the Public. University of Zurich — Mobility Grants

The North-South Cooperation of the University of Zurich (UZH) awards up to three grants per semester for mobility students from universities in the Global South (eligible countries are listed in the announcement). The grants can be used to study at UZH during the academic year 2020-21. (Note: Grants are only awarded if a professor at UZH guarantees supervision.) U.S. Department of State — Young Pacific Leaders Conference 2020

The US Department of State, in partnership with Cultural Vistas, accepts applications from emerging leaders (ages 25-35) across the Pacific to attend the Young Pacific Leaders (YPL) Conference in Papua New Guinea (April 2020). The Conference will include informational sessions, skills workshops, cultural activities, and site visits to deepen participants’ capacity to address regional issues related to Education; Environment and Resource Management; Civic Leadership; and Economic and Social Development. All travel, lodging and meals will be provided to selected participants. After the YPL Conference, all YPL alumni will be eligible to compete for small grant funding to support projects in their countries. Applications are due by 03 February 2020. Find out more

The company Famae seeks innovative and concrete solutions from field to fork to deliver fair, sustainable & healthy food worldwide to everyone. Solutions should be pragmatic, efficient, durable, and money-saving to make life easier for urban citizens while reducing their environmental footprint. Individuals, teams, businesses, government entities, universities and organizations are eligible to apply. Asian Institute of Technology — Masters Scholarships in Energy and Environment

The Asian Institute of Technology invites applications for the Loom Nam Khong Pijai Scholarships for masters degree programs in infrastructure development; energy technology; oil, gas, and natural resources development; and environmental engineering and management. Eligibility extends to nationals of Thailand, Myanmar, Lao PDR, Cambodia, Vietnam and China (Yunnan and Guangxi Provinces). Each scholarship covers tuition and registration fees, accommodation, and a bursary for living expenses at AIT‘s residential campus in Thailand for the 22 months of the masters program.
