Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture — PhD Research Scholarship

The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) offers scholarships for PhD studies in agriculture, natural resources, and related fields. Research funds do not to exceed US$4,500. SEARCA offers an optional 2-month internship. SEARCA prioritizes Southeast Asian nationals who are enrolled in PhD programs in a member university, however, the program is also open to applications who are regular staff members of government agencies or non-profit development-oriented institutions. International Water Center — Australia Awards Scholarship (Indo-Pacific region)

Australia’s International Water Center provides funding for international students from the Indo-Pacific region. Scholarship recipients can to undertake full time undergraduate or postgraduate studies in Master of Integrated Water Management or Master of Catchment Science at participating Australian universities. Australia Awards alumni are expected to leave Australia after completing their scholarship and contribute to the development of their home countries. The application deadline is 30 April 2020. European Commission — Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme

The Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme is a joint program coordinated by the EC with the African Union Commission to increase the availability of qualified high-level professionals in Africa. The program enables post-graduate students, academics, and university staff to benefit from the experience gained in the context of mobility to another African country. Applications are invited from African higher education institutions, working in coordination with one EU technical partner. The amount of funding per grant will range from €1 million to €1.4 million a period of over five years. The application deadline is 19 May 2020. Link

Co-Creation Hub — Business Ideas for a better Africa

The Diaspora Challenge seeks scalable business solutions to social challenges in Africa. The challenge invites proposals in three thematic areas, including one on clean and affordable energy. The winning ideas will receive prototype funding of US$ 15 thousand, seed investment and mentorship to put their idea into action. Only Africans in diaspora are eligible. Merlin Trust — Study Travel Grant for Horticulturists

The Merlin Trust offers travel grants to young horticulturists. The Trust offers up to £1500 to individual applicants to assist with foreign or domestic travel projects. Foreign citizens may apply but must be studying in a British or Irish horticultural training establishment. Eligibility extends to young horticulturists aged between 18 and 34. Submissions are considered on a rolling basis. (Note: Applications have to be submitted at least three months from the application submission date to the date of departure.) TRANSFORM — Sanitation for Underserved Urban Areas

TRANSFORM offers support to water utilities in Sub-Saharan Africa with innovative ideas and WASH solutions that meet the sanitation needs of underserved consumers in urban areas. Two successful projects will receive up to £250 thousand in funding, in addition to in-kind support over a 12-18 month period. Joint applications from NGOs, academics, consultants, and funders based in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe are encouraged. Climate Tracker — Opportunity for Journalists from the Philippines

Climate Tracker seeks 15 journalists from across the Philippines for a three-day workshop on climate justice reporting. Climate Tracker will make 5 travel grants for deserving applicants to attend the workshop. One participating journalist will be selected for a fully-funded trip to Germany, to cover the UN climate talks in June. To apply, journalists need to is pitch a story on climate or energy justice (300 words). The applications deadline is 19 March 2020. Details here

UN Climate Change — Training on Greenhouse Gas Inventories

UN Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Greenhouse Gas Inventory & Research Center of Korea accept applications for a professional training program on the transparency of climate action and support. The program is open to national climate experts from developing countries. The overall goal is to enhance the technical capacity of individuals and to improve the overall competency in reporting on climate change. Government officials, consultants and researchers are encouraged to apply by 05 April 2020. About the training program

Roddenberry Foundation — Roddenberry Prize 2020

The Roddenberry Foundation invites proposals for projects that address the challenges of an unpredictable and fast-changing global landscape. The four winners of the Roddenberry Prize will each receive US$250 thousand for their work in one of the following fields: Education, Science, Environment, and Humanity. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations, social enterprises, businesses, universities, and groups of individuals. Interested applicants and partners have to register by 10 April 2020. EuroMarine — EMBRC Services for Early-Career Researchers

The European Marine Biological Research Centre (EMBRC) offers grants for services to 10 EuroMarine early-career scientists (PhD students or researchers within 5 years of their PhD degree). Applicants must belong to an organization that is a member of EuroMarine. Each successful applicant will receive a grant of €5 thousand to cover the cost of EMBRC services.
