British Council — Newton Fund Researcher Links Regional Workshops

Newton Fund Researcher Links Regional Workshops bring together early-career researchers from the UK and other regional partner countries to allow them to make international connections that can improve the quality of their research. The program intends to tackle global challenges – such as climate and environment, sustainable energy, water and sanitation, rural and urban development, and food safety among others. Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research — Funding Opportunity for Early-Career Science Communicators

The Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN) seeks early-career science and research communicators in the Asia-Pacific region. The new grant opportunity aims to (1) promote collaboration between journalists or media practitioners and scientists/researchers and (2) disseminate scientific outputs in the form of non-scientific materials. Successful candidates will be given a small grant of up to US$5 thousand for producing and disseminating the communication product. The deadline for receiving applications is 16 August 2019. German Academic Exchange Service — Postdoctoral Researchers International Mobility Experience 2019

DAAD collaborates with the EC’s Marie Curie Program to offer the Postdoctoral Researchers International Mobility Experience (PRIME) for outstanding postdoctoral researchers across all disciplines and nationalities. Funding is provided for 18 months, of which 12 months are spent abroad and 6 months at a German university. The funding consists of salaries instead of scholarships. Singularity University — MENA Global Impact Challenge

SingularityU invites applications for the MENA Global Impact Challenge to foster innovations and startups that positively impact the lives of people living in the Middle East and North Africa. Thematic areas include sustainable energy, climate-secure agriculture, and others. The winner of this challenge will be selected at a final pitch event and receive a full scholarship to attend SU’s Global Startup Program (GSP). University of Cape Town — CSAG Winter School 2019

The Climate Systems Analysis Group (CSAG) at the University of Cape Town organizes a “winter school” intensive course, with the next one scheduled for five days in July 2019. The course is presented by facilitators from CSAG and other institutions to take participants through the full spectrum of topics related to climate and climate change, with an emphasis on issues in developing countries. World Bank — Developing an Agricultural Risk Financing Tool for Southern Africa

The Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) and partners seek innovators to design a tool that can support public finance decisions based on an integrated approach for the management of agriculture sector risks. The tool should help to prioritize investments in resilience and preparedness to reduce agriculture losses, poverty and food insecurity. All approaches should be scalable to regions or countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. EuroScience — European Young Researchers’ Award 2020

The European Young Researchers’ Award (EYRA) aims to inspire early stage researchers in all research areas to incorporate a European dimension and perspective into their research. The 2020 call is open to early-career PhD and post-doctoral researchers from any nationality, who work in a European country. The award consists of a certificate, free participation (including travel) at the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF), and one year free EuroScience membership. Climate Chance — Climate Chance Summit Africa 2019

Climate Chance opens the call for proposals for the Climate Chance Summit Africa 2019. The call is open to local authorities, businesses, NGOs, trade unions, scientists, representatives from agricultural, youth, women and indigenous organisations, educators and citizens. Initiatives corresponding to many themes will be considered: Access to climate finance in Africa; Developing African cities in a sustainable way; Agriculture, food and reforestation in Africa; Renewable energy and energy efficiency in Africa; Adaptation and Water in Africa; Education and Training on Climate Change in Africa; and others. U.S. Department of State — YSEALI Academic Fellowship

The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is a program of the U.S. government to support bright young leaders in the ASEAN countries. The YSEALI Academic Fellowship offer support to participate in a five-week institute on the campus of a U.S. university or college in one of the following topics: civil engagement; environmental issues; or social entrepreneurship and economic development. The fellowships include leadership development, an educational study tour, local community service activities, and opportunities to engage with peers in the USA. Applications are invited from current full-time undergraduate students citizen of Vietnam aged between 18 and 25 years. Application deadline is 02 June 2019. Link
