The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the specialised UN agency, funds journalists from around Africa to attend the workshop ‘Reporting Rural Poverty and Agricultural Development’. The programme aim is to enable journalists to tell the story of rural development. Participants will have the opportunity to attend the African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) in Kigali in September 2019. Eligibility extends to full-time journalists from across Africa. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) offers grants to foreign citizens and Italian citizens living abroad for the academic year 2019-2020 in order to foster international cultural, scientific and technological cooperation. Grants are offered to pursue study, training, and/or research programs at Italian Higher Education Institutes. (Note: This may include one or more categories covered by the Terra Viva Grants Directory). Grantees will receive a €900 monthly allowance on a quarterly basis and health insurance. Pulitzer Center — Data Journalism and Property Rights Grants
The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting provides travel grants to cover hard costs associated with upcoming travel for an international reporting project. The Pulitzer Center seeks applications for data-driven journalism projects related to land rights and property rights. Projects may focus on issues related to indigenous land rights due to the exploration of natural resources, among many other themes. Most awards fall in the range of US$5-15 thousand. The NAM S&T Centre invites applications from scientists from the developing countries for the Joint NAM S&T Centre – ZMT Bremen (Germany) Fellowship in Tropical Coastal Marine Research. Under this scheme, five selected scientists will work with senior researchers and faculty members in fields related to Ecology, Biogeochemistry, Geology, and Tropical Coastal Marine Systems; and undertaking short-term joint research projects for a period of up to 3 months. Columbus Zoo and Aquarium — Conservation Grants 2019
The Columbus Zoo makes conservation grants for research, local community involvement, capacity building, environmental education, and behavior change leading to improved conservation of wildlife and habitat. Grant requests may range from US$1 thousand to US$25 thousand, but grants are limited to US$5 thousand for first-time applicants. First-time applicants must submit a pre-proposal. UN Framework Convention on Climate Change — Training Program on Greenhouse Gases
UNFCCC-GIR-CASTT is a professional training on greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories to national experts from developing countries. The goal is to enhance the technical capacity of individuals and to improve the overall competency in reporting and in contributing to climate action. The four-week intensive training course will begin on 22 July and be held in the Republic of Korea. Current government officials, consultants and researchers in the fields of greenhouse gas emissions, emission reductions, and climate change are encouraged to apply. Universitas Gadjah Mada — Gadjah Mada International Fellowship
The Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) offers a scholarship to international students from ASEAN member countries (excluding Indonesia), South Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan that demonstrate the need of financial assistance. Study courses include agriculture, forestry, biology, and veterinary medicine. The GMIF program covers tuition fees, living allowance, international airfare, and thesis research of Rp10 million for the Master Program and Rp15 million for the Doctoral Program. The AEN secretariat and 3ie offer bursaries to Africans for attending the Evidence to Action Conference 2019 Conference in Ghana. The 2019 conference program will focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Applicants from the MENA or Sub-Saharan Africa region can apply for a full bursary after submitting an abstract. The bursaries cover the cost of conference registration, air travel, and accommodation, or a partial bursary which is a waiver of the conference registration fee only.
