Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Tropical Biology — Training Courses, Seminars, and Workshops 2018

The Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Tropical Biology (SEAMO BIOTROP) aims to increase the knowledge and skills of ASEAN professionals and students on a wide range of topics in tropical biology. Unless otherwise indicated, training courses are conducted at the SEAMEO BIOTROP headquarter in Bogor, Indonesia. Priority is for nationals of SEAMEO member countries, especially in the sponsored courses. The remaining BIOTROP courses and seminars for 2018 are scheduled from July through October. Application forms should be submitted to the respective course coordinators at least one month in advance of any event. Link

Lush Retail Inc. — Lush Prize 2018

The Lush Prize rewards initiatives across science and campaigning that work to end or replace animal testing. The prize consists of an annual fund of between £250 and £350 thousand. Projects and individuals working towards the goal of replacing animals in product or ingredient safety testing across five strategic areas (1) Lobbying, (2) Public Awareness, (3) Science (4) Training, and (5) Young Researcher are eligible to apply. Belmont Forum — Big Data for Environmental Change

The Belmont Forum launches a 4-year competitive call for projects on Science-driven e-Infrastructure Innovation (SEI) for the Enhancement of Transnational, Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Data Use in Environmental Change. Project teams must involve national research teams based in at least three different countries (Brazil, China, France, Japan, and USA). Small and large projects are welcome. UK Natural Environment Research Council — Latin American Biodiversity Programme

NERC invites proposals under the Latin American Biodiversity Programme. The Programme aims to provide trans-regional understanding of the role of biodiversity and ecosystem services. Applicants are invited to submit multilateral collaborative research proposals comprising eligible UK-based researchers and at least two participating LATAM countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile or Peru). The British Council announces workshops that convene UK researchers with partners in other countries. DSM — Brighter Living Scholarship

DMS offers 4 scholarships to young leaders from Zambia and Ethiopia, who are working in the field of nutrition to deliver nutritional solutions for their communities. The scholarship seeks candidates who develop/implement programs to eliminate post-harvest losses for small holder farmers, among others. Pulitzer Center & Thomson Reuters — Reporting Land Rights Training for Southern Africa

The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting and the Thomson Reuters Foundation seek participants for a four-day workshop on reporting land rights in Johannesburg, South Africa (30 July – 2 August 2018). Journalists with outstanding story ideas on property rights will receive training, editorial support and limited funding to help them realize their stories. The program will cover airfare, lodging, and subsistence for journalists from Southern African countries. Applications are open for the World Bank/ACE II Masters Fellowships for African female scientists. Priority areas include agriculture, among others. Selected fellows will receive financial support that covers tuition fees, living expenses, research, and travel. Eastern Africa Farmers Federation — Support for Young Farmers in Africa

The Eastern Africa Farmers Federation in partnership with IFAD calls for innovative ideas from rural youth groups in agriculture and agribusiness related enterprises. Young farmers will receive technical support, mentorship, access to potential funders/investors and other partnership opportunities. Center for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries — Fellowship in Tropical Coastal Marine Research

The NAM S&T Centre invites applications from scientists from the developing countries for the Joint NAM S&T Centre – ZMT Bremen (Germany) Fellowship in Tropical Coastal Marine Research. Under this scheme, five selected scientists will work with senior researchers and faculty members in fields related to Ecology, Biogeochemistry, Geology, and Tropical Coastal Marine Systems; and undertaking short-term joint research projects for a period of up to 3 months.
