The pilot workshop aims at building a strong network of experts and will be held from 9 – 13 December 2018 in Bahrain. World Academy of Sciences — Postgraduate Fellowships in Natural Sciences in Pakistan
The TWAS-CIIT Fellowship Programme offers fellowships to young scientists from developing countries who wish to obtain all or part of their PhD in natural sciences. CIIT will provide a monthly stipend which should be used to cover living costs such as food, accommodation, and health insurance. APEC Climate Center — Climate Change Training Program
The APEC Climate Center (APCC) accepts applications for a training program with the subject of user-oriented statistical downscaling of climate change scenarios for agriculture and water resources to be held in Korea (15-20 October 2018). The 1-week training program aims to provide information and technical support for better regional planning and reduction of economic losses caused by adverse climate conditions. Scientists and working level staff from national research institutes in agriculture and/or water-related fields in developing countries, preferably APEC economies, are invited to apply. World Academy of Sciences — Post-Doctoral Fellowships in Brazil
In partnership with the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), Brazil’s National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) invites young scientists from developing countries other than Brazil to pursue postdoctoral research in natural sciences at selected Brazilian research institutions for periods of 6-12 months. Subject areas include agricultural sciences, biological sciences, and many others. UK Biotechnology & Biological Sciences Research Council — Agri-Systems Research
BBSRC announces a call for collaborative proposals to address research challenges relating to the sustainable intensification of agricultural systems in developing countries. The aim of this call is to enhance livelihoods through research to improve the productivity, sustainability, resilience and health of crops and/or farmed animals (including aquaculture). Proposals must be led by a Principal Investigator (PI) in the UK, but are expected to be co-designed and delivered with “in-country” researchers. Wellcome Trust — Seed Awards in Science
The Wellcome Trust seeks applications for its Seed Awards in Science to help researchers develop novel ideas with the goal to develop larger grant proposals. This seed award is intended for PhD researchers from low- or middle-income countries who intend to start independent research careers outside of their area of expertise across basic science and population health research. Siemens Stiftung — Empowering People Award 2019
Siemens Stiftung sponsors the “empowering people. Award” as a means to identify and showcase relatively simple and smart technological solutions that have business potential to combat poverty in developing and emerging countries. The categories include water and waste water; energy; food and agriculture; waste management; and several others. The products or solutions to be submitted have to already be in use. The competition is open to any individual, team, organization, or enterprise from any region in the world. The top three prizes are €50 thousand, €30 thousand, and €20 thousand, respectively. Arab Council for the Social Sciences — Research Grants 2019-2020
The Arab Council for the Social Sciences announces the fifth cycle of its research grants program on the theme of “Environmentalism, Impoverishment, and Social Justice Movements: Interdisciplinary Perspectives”. The research should focus primarily on Arab societies, with priority given to researchers residing in the Arab region. Grants of up to US$20 thousand will be available to individual researchers; research teams can apply for up to US$50 thousand. Grants are intended to support a maximum timeline of 18 months. The Chulabhorn Graduate Institute (CGI) and the ASEAN Foundation (AF) seek applications for their joint Post-graduate Scholarship Programme in Science and Technology. This year, eight scholarships are available for ASEAN nationals who are interested to pursue a Master Degree in the fields of Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Environmental Sciences, and other fields at the CGI. The Tata Trusts supports philanthropic initiatives in the fields of water, energy, rural development, and others.
