International Finance Corporation — Contest for Youth Engagement in Energy, Water & Transport

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) and International Youth Foundation (IYF) invite applications for a contest for Youth Engagement in Energy, Water & Transport. The contest aims to inspire and create a dialogue on innovative ways to engage young people in natural resource industries while addressing some of the problems and needs of communities and companies. Youth between the ages of 15 and 30 are invited to submit content around core themes of energy, water, and transport. The competition is open to nationals of all countries. Earth Journalism Network — Bay of Bengal Story Grants

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers Story Grants to support the production of in-depth stories on climate and environmental change in the Bay of Bengal region. Particular attention should be given to the adaptation needs, challenges, efforts and success stories of vulnerable and marginalized communities, women and youth. Eligibility extends to professional journalists and other expert media practitioners. Most grants will range from US$1 thousand to US$2 thousand. The application deadline is 13 August 2018. Organic Farming Research Foundation — Research Grants 2019

OFRF offers funding for research on organic farming and food systems and the dissemination of these research results to organic farmers and agricultural and research communities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Priorities are research on soil health; innovative weed control; issues of emerging insects and diseases; and livestock health. OFRF particularly encourages farmers, ranchers, graduate students, early-career researchers, veterans, and extension personnel to consider applying for funding. Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council — Food & Nutrition Research for Health in the Developing World

The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) supports collaborative research proposals to address agriculture-nutrition-health challenges in the developing world. The purpose of this programme is to develop new strategies to address the challenges in food, nutrition and health by supporting collaborative research of scientists in the UK and partners in developing countries.The total budget should not exceed £2 million for two years. The call is open to individuals and organisations. Applications must be led by an eligible Principal Investigator (PI) in the UK. Applications will close on 11 September 2018. Know more

Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council — Agri-Systems Research to Enhance Livelihoods in Developing Countries

The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) seeks proposals for its “Agri-systems research to enhance livelihoods in developing countries”. The aim of this call is to enhance livelihoods through interdisciplinary research to improve agricultural systems. The total requested budget should not exceed £1.5 million. The program is open to UK researchers eligible for funding from the BBSRC. For this call, applications are expected to include “in-country” researchers as co-investigators. Government of Czech Republic — University Scholarships for Applicants from Developing Countries

The Czech Republic provides scholarships to support nationals from developing countries at public institutions of higher education in the Czech Republic. The fields of study include ecology, wildlife management, natural resources, forestry, and tropical agriculture (among others). Applications need to be submitted before 30 September of each year. Wildlife Photo — Habitats & Landscapes 2018

The wildlife photography contest series for 2018 is open. Wildlife Photo will award prizes worth US$18 thousand in total (including photography trips and equipment). A selection of winners and highly-commended images will be exhibited on an outdoor screen in New York City. United States Agency for International Development — Power Africa: Women Leaders in the Energy Sector

Power Africa accepts applications from women in the energy sector to participate in a four-week career development training workshop (October 2018). Successful applicants will be provided round-trip transportation, lodging, meals, and course materials. GSMA — Mobile for Humanitarian Innovation Fund

The GSMA Mobile for Humanitarian Innovation Fund seeks innovations in the use of mobile technology to address humanitarian challenges. This funding round will test new technical solutions and catalyse ideas to improve food security and adaptation/resilience to climate change, among others. Projects should be implemented in Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and North Africa, or Latin America.
