British Council — International Research Workshops

The British Council supports research workshops under the programs Researcher Links and the Newton Fund to assist early-career researchers from the UK and partner countries to interact and explore research collaborations. Current opportunities that have one or more environmental themes include: (1) Exploring the potential of biological soft matter science in agrifood challenges, UK, Brazil and Uruguay, with application deadline on 19 February 2018; and (2) Research capacity for sustainable ecosystem-based management of estuaries and coasts in the UK and South Africa, with application deadline on 16 March 2018. International Zoo Educators Association — Sponsored Delegate Program 2018

The International Zoo Educators Association funds conservation educators from developing countries to attend its biennial conference. A limited number of professional development grants to attend the IZE conference are available every other year. Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture — Agricultural Scholarships for Africans

The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) is partnering with the MasterCard Foundation to implement the programme “Transforming African Agricultural Universities to meaningfully contribute to Africa’s growth and development”. For the academic year 2018, 45 Bachelor and 15 Master scholarships are available of which 70% will be for Kenya and Uganda nationals. The aim is to transform African agricultural universities and their graduates to better respond to developmental challenges through enhanced application of science, technology, business and innovation for rural agricultural transformation. Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey — Research Fellowships 2018

The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) awards research fellowships to international highly qualified PhD students and young postdoctoral researchers. Applicants should be non-Turkish citizens who are age 35 or younger. Preference is for candidates who have the potential to contribute to Turkey’s international cooperation in scientific and technological development. The fields of research collaboration include agricultural sciences, among others. The maximum length of the fellowship is 12 months. India Department of Science and Technology — Technological Innovation Fund

The Department of Science and Technology (India) and the National Technological Innovation Authority (Israel) announce the 1st India-Israel Technological Innovation Fund. The objective of this programme is to respond to the global issues concerning science & technology for the water, energy and agricultural sector while developing technologies that can be commercialized and localized within 2 years. Israeli Agency for International Development — Course: Environmental Management of Nature Parks and Reserves

Israel’s Agency for International Development (MASHAV) offers professional short courses in Israel in subject areas that include agriculture, energy, environment, education, and social development. MASHAV offers a limited number of scholarships to cover course fees, accommodation, medical insurance, and other expenses in Israel. The international course on “Environmental Management of Nature Parks and Reserves” will focus on ecosystem services. This training program is intended for mid-level professionals involved in nature preservation, working for government, non-governmental organizations, decision-making bodies, academia and the private sector. Franklin Institute — Bower Award for Science Achievement 2019

The Bower Award of US$250 thousand is made to individuals who have made significant contributions to understanding and quantifying perturbations of natural systems within the biosphere, atmosphere, or hydrosphere in the age of the Anthropocene. International Institute of Education — Indigenous Biocultural Exchange Fund

The Indigenous Biocultural Exchange Fund provides up to US$5 thousand to indigenous individuals to attend global biocultural exchanges or meetings which impact the applicant’s home territory or region. Applicants must be indigenous or members of a local indigenous community. Additional preference will be given to women and youth. The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) invites applications from former RUFORUM-Carnegie supported doctoral alumni for a 2 year post-doctoral fellowships to be based at a university in Africa. Applications from candidates who have submitted their theses for external examination will also be considered. The maximum award for this call is US$60 thousand per fellowship. European Space Agency — Living Planet Fellowship 2018

The European Space Agency (ESA) invites young researchers to submit research proposals for the Living Planet Fellowship 2018. Eligible research areas are (1) Advancing Novel Methods and Techniques; and (2) Advancing Earth System Science. ESA will support up to 10 Post-Doctoral researchers to carry out a research project at a Host Institution in an eligible ESA Member State.
