CRDF Global — Travel Grants for U.S. Early-Career Scientists

CRDF Global announces the 2017 Catalyzing New Research Partnerships Program. The program aims to catalyze new international research collaborations for U.S. early-career scientists with partners in South and Southeastern Asia; Latin America: and West Africa. The subject areas of interest are biological sciences; geosciences; and others. CRDF will make travel grants up to US$10 thousand for U.S. early-career scientists residing and working in the USA to lay the foundation for new international research partnerships in the priority regions. Canadian International Development Research Center — Building African Capacity to Address Climate Change

The Africa Climate Leadership Program (AfriCLP) awards training fellowships to build leadership capacity in Africa in response to climate change. Funded by Canada’s IDRC, the program is managed by the University of Nairobi and the Institute of Resource Assessment at the University of Dar es Salaam. The program is open to mid-level and senior researchers who have the potential to become leaders in their field. Selected climate change leaders in Africa will take part in training seminars allowing them to develop and test their ideas. The deadline for submissions is 30 September 2017. Pacsafe Turtle Fund — Grants for Sea Turtle Conservation 2018

The Pacsafe Turtle Fund supports the worldwide conservation of endangered sea turtles such as the leatherback, loggerhead, green, and hawksbill turtles. Virginia Gildersleeve International Fund — Funding for Projects Led by Women 2018

VGIF provides grants up to US$7,500 for projects that are led by women, and that help empower women and girls in grassroots communities around the globe. Most grants are for one year. Past projects include examples in farming, kitchen gardens, water supply, and other aspects of sustaining local livelihoods.  VGIF will accept letters of intent through 02 October 2017. UN-Habitat — Conference on Cities and Climate Change Science

UN-Habitat and its partners are sponsoring a conference in Canada, scheduled for March 2018, on the subject of cities and the science of climate change. The conference will assess the current state of academic and practice-based knowledge about climate change, identifying gaps and sharing best practices. The conference organizers welcome proposals for events and abstracts for oral sessions. The conference has limited funding available to support the travel of selected applicants from developing countries. Additional funds may be mobilized for the participation of early-career scientists and professionals. The submission deadline is 06 October 2017. United Nations Environment Program — Fighting Plastic in the Oceans

UN Environment and Think Beyond Plastic are sponsoring a worldwide innovation challenge for university students to fight the increasing problem of plastic in oceans. The winners in each of four categories of the competition will attend the Sixth International Marine Debris Conference in California (March 2018), and will receive free mentorship to help them develop their ideas. WWF in India — Small Grants Program

WWF-India offers grants up to Rs. 400 thousand for conservation research or action projects of up to two years. Grants are made to individuals to be utilized primarily for field activities. Priority is for research and conservation aligned with WWF’s program in India. The application deadlines are 30 April and 30 November of each year. Learn more
