International Initiative for Impact Evaluation — Bursaries for EvalMENA 2020 Conference

3ie offers five bursaries to support nationals from low-and-middle income countries for the EvalMENA 2020 conference, Evaluation for Sustainable Development and Change. The event will be held from 27 February to 1 March 2020 in Jordan. The event will include pre-conference workshops for emerging evaluators and sessions on new trends in evaluation, innovative methodologies and evaluation for resilience and climate change. Water and Energy for Food — Asia Agriculture & Energy Prize

The Water and Energy for Food (WE4F) Prize seeks business owners and entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia with innovations in renewable energy and agriculture. The Prize includes a US$355 thousand cash prize for winners and runners-up, and sponsorship to participate in the Clean Asia Energy Forum in the Philippines (June 2020). The Prize is open to mid-stage businesses and youth innovators. To be eligible for the mid-stage prize, enterprises must have existing services or products. For the Youth Innovators Prize, applicants must be under the age of 30 with a pre-revenue or post-revenue business model. Submission deadline is 29 January 2020. Click here

Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation — Agribusiness Intelligence Platform

#VALUE4HERConnect is Africa’s first agribusiness intelligence platform aimed at facilitating growth and development of women-owned agribusiness enterprises. The platform calls for registrations of women agri-businesses who wish to do business and trade in African and global agricultural markets. The aim is to create a network of women in agribusiness, increase information flow within women agribusiness networks and with their markets, supply chains and other service providers, including investment and financing partners. U.S. Agency for International Development — WASH Capacity Building Grant Nigeria

The USAID Effective Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (E -WASH) Program seeks partners in Nigeria to support organizational development and to build technical capacity in urban WASH for civil society organizations and water utilities. Applicants should propose a program that will support organizational development and technical capacity strengthening of civil society organizations and federal ministry of water resources and state water utilities. USAID expects to make six awards. The funding amount for each award is up to US$100 thousand for a period of one year. The World Academy of Sciences — Workshop on Coffee Research

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) seeks young scientists from developing countries engaged in coffee research to participate in the workshop “Addressing Key Challenges on Coffee Research” (Italy, April 2020). The event will address key challenges in coffee research, growth and production and provide opportunities to build links and collaborations between researchers and coffee experts. UK Research and Innovation — Reducing the Impacts of Plastic Waste in Developing Countries

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) invites proposals for international, interdisciplinary, collaborative research projects with the aim to reduce the impacts of plastic waste in developing countries. This call aims to support up to five projects with a value of up to £3.5 million (note: overseas organisations are eligible for 100% direct project costs). All projects are required to have a Principal Investigator based in a UK research organisation. The call has a two stage application process. International Livestock Research Institute — Africa Biosciences Challenge Fund

The Biosciences eastern and central Africa (BecA) Hub awards research fellowships to African agricultural researchers for short-term projects (6 month) at the BecA-ILRI Hub in Nairobi. Research projects should be aligned with crops and livestock agricultural development priorities (identified in the announcement). Candidates should be currently engaged in agricultural research and be affiliated with a national agricultural research system in the eligible countries: Burundi, Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Congo Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Kenya, Madagascar, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. Under special partnership and collaboration arrangements, applicants from other African countries are considered for the fellowship. European Commission — Fossil-Free Farming

The European Commission seeks ambitious approaches and strategies towards a fossil-energy-free agriculture (Scope A). In addition, proposals that test cost-effective technical solutions for reducing the dependence on fossil energy sources in agriculture are invited (Scope B). São Paulo Research Foundation — International Research Collaboration

The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) offers seed funding to support the exchange of researchers under the program “São Paulo Researchers in International Collaboration” (SPRINT). The 4th call seeks collaborations with selected partner research organizations in Argentina, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, United States, and New Zealand. The fields of joint research interest include environment, energy, and others — varying with each partnership. European Commission — Integrated Local Energy Systems

The European Commission seeks to support the economic growth of renewable energy sources as a means of decarbonising local energy systems (e.g. isolated villages, small cities, urban districts, rural areas with weak or non-existing grid connections). The objective of this call is to create a preliminary analysis of the local case as part of the content of the proposal and propose to develop solutions and tools for the optimization of the local energy network, that also have a high replication potential across Europe.
