The Jean Sainsbury Animal Welfare Trust makes grants to small UK-registered charities in support of animal protection, animal welfare, and the conservation of wildlife. The Trust only supports UK charities but funds can be used for animal protection projects abroad. The maximum funding given in the past was £35 thousand. University of Oxford — Scholars Program for Africans
The Africa Oxford Initiative (AfOx) offers seven graduate scholarships for the 2025-26 MBA program at the University of Oxford. Scholarships are available for applicants who are African nationals, and who can demonstrate a commitment to Africa’s development. East-West Center — South Pacific Scholarship Program
The United States–South Pacific Scholarship Program provides opportunities for university studies (master’s and bachelor’s degrees) at the University of Hawai‘i in fields that are relevant to the development needs of Pacific island countries. Priority areas of study include agriculture, environmental studies, and many others. Candidates from the following countries, who meet specific selection criteria, are eligible to apply: Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. Leakey Foundation — Research on Primates
The Leakey Foundation funds research related to human origins. This includes research on primate biology, ecology, and behavior. The majority of research grants awarded to doctoral students range from US$3 thousand to US$20 thousand. Larger projects by senior scientists and post-doctoral students may be funded up to US$30 thousand. There are no citizenship restrictions. Nagao Natural Environment Foundation — Support for Young Scientists from Asia-Pacific
The Nagao Natural Environment Foundation (NEF) aims to build the capacity of young scientists in developing countries of the Asia-Pacific region. Young researchers (under 40 years old) can submit fieldwork-based projects in the areas of biology; biodiversity; wildlife and restoration of ecosystems; and relationships between nature and humans. Marion Dönhoff Foundation — Environment and Sustainability
Through the Succow Foundation, the Marion Dönhoff Grant supports open and critical debates in the areas of environmental journalism, political ecology, and sustainable development. The program is a fellowship for post-graduates with professional experience and activists of civil society networks and groups. The target regions are post-soviet states, including the South Caucasus and Central Asia. The fellowship funds a study and work visit in Germany for up to five months.
