European Commission — Development of the Coffee, Tea and Horticulture Sectors in Tanzania

Through this call, the European Commission aims to support the development of coffee, tea and horticulture sectors in Tanzania. Priority areas include the improvement of small-scale farmers’ incomes, gender diversity in agriculture, and climate smart agriculture. Grants made under this call for proposals will be up to €6 million (please refer to the call document for further details). Only non-profit organizations are eligible to apply. The GSMA Innovation Fund for Digitisation of Agricultural Value Chains seeks digital solutions to improve smallholders’ financial inclusion, livelihood and climate resilience. Projects should be implemented in Sub-Saharan Africa or South Asia. Funding of up to £220 thousand per project is available, as well as mentoring, and project support. British Council — Small Grants for Research Collaboration with South Asia

The British Council Small-Scale Research Project Scheme provides funding (up to £5 thousand) for early-career researchers in the UK and countries in South Asia. The funding is intended for collaborative research projects in the theme water (e.g. water resource management, water health and sanitation, water cooperation and diplomacy), among others. Partnerships must be formed between a UK university/research institute and a university/research institute in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, or Sri Lanka. European Bank for Reconstruction and Development — Central European Initiative, Know-How Exchange 2019

The Know-how Exchange Program co-finances the transfer of know-how and best practices from EU to non-EU member countries of the Central European Initiative (CEI). Thematic areas in the current call by KEP-Italy include energy, environment, and agriculture and rural development (among others). Proposals are submitted by organizations in CEI member states which are also member states of the European Union for knowledge transfers to non-EU member states of the CEI. The non-EU members of the CEI are Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Ukraine. The maximum grant is €40 thousand. Government of Canada — Development Impact Window

The Government of Canada seeks Canadian Small and Medium Organizations (SMO) to apply to the Development Impact Window. The aim of this call is to reduce poverty and vulnerability in developing countries by promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls. Action areas under this call include one on ‘Environment and Climate Action’. The total amount of funding available under this call is up to CA$36 million over five years. Only Canadian SMOs with projects in one or more official development assistance-eligible countries (especially Sub-Saharan Africa) may apply. Concept notes have to be submitted by 10 July 2019. European Commission — Agribusiness Support Zambia

The European Commission seeks to reduce rural poverty and malnutrition and to improve rural livelihoods in Zambia. Projects under this call should focus on (1) Increasing investments in agriculture (including fish farming), (2) Facilitating the creation and strengthening of smallholder farmer and agribusiness associations, and (3) Generating employment opportunities, in particular for women and youth. The overall amount made available under this call is €26 million. In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must an established organization in a Member State of the European Union or Zambia. U.S. Department of State — U.S.-ASEAN Water Smart Exchanges

The U.S. Office of Conservation and Water seeks US applicants for the U.S.-ASEAN Smart Cities Partnership Water-Smart Exchanges (WiSE) program. The Program will pair cities in the ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN) with counterparts in the United States to expand the adoption of new technologies and innovative approaches to improve the management of water resources. ASCN participants will tour U.S. locations to study water management practices and technology innovations. One single award of up to US$1.4 million is available for an initial project period of three years. Eligibility is limited to U.S. non-profit organizations and educational institutions. U.S. Agency for International Development — Agriculture Development in Ukraine

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for funding of an activity entitled “Agriculture Growing Rural Opportunities (AGRO) Activity in Ukraine”. The aim of this activity is to accelerate the economic development of rural Ukrainian communities and create profitable small and medium agricultural businesses. The Cooperative Agreement will grant a total amount up to $35 million over a 5-year period. Non-profit or for-profit non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are eligible to apply. Pro Natura Foundation — Applications 2019

The Pro Natura Foundation makes grants to individuals and organizations for nature conservation in Japan and developing countries. This program is focused on scientific research concerning the conservation of biodiversity and the relationship between humans and the environment. Grants of up to 1,5 million yen are for one year.
