International Renewable Energy Agency — Youth Video Contest
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) announces a youth video contest focused on the theme ‘Renewable Energy in the Time of COVID-19: Youth Actions for Recovery.’ The winner will get a chance to participate at the IRENA Youth Forum (January 2021) and gain media exposure. Video submissions must address ideas on ‘Renewable Energy in times of COVID-19’ in 60 seconds or less. The competition is open to participants up 30 years old from all over the world. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Environment and Climate Action in Belarus
The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Belarus. CFLI provides funding to projects that implement environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, and water management, among other thematic priorities. The average contribution is C$20 thousand to C$25 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to community organizations, non-profit organizations, local governments, academic institutions, and international non-profit organizations. International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis — Grant Fund for Capacity Building of Young Scientists
The International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) funds research projects of young scientists in the areas of conservation of wildlife and ecosystems in the Asia-Pacific region (including South and Southeast Asia). Applicants must be less than 40 years old and work or study full-time in a university or research institution. The Project Coordinator is requested to have teaching and/or working experience at a Japanese university or research institution. The maximum grant size is ¥1,5 million per project. Geres – Women’s Entrepreneurship
Geres is an international development NGO which works to improve the living conditions of the poorest and tackle climate change and its impacts. Geres seeks to promote women’s entrepreneurship by scaling-up entrepreneurs and value chains involved in energy access in Mali, Morocco, and Myanmar. This call for expressions of interest is aimed at identifying up to four consultants (ideally three national consultants) to develop a country-based gender strategy sensitive to the specificities of each region. U.S. Mission to South Africa — Empowering Girls in STEM
The U.S. Mission to South Africa announces an open competition for non-profit organizations and academic institutions to submit applications to develop and implement a program that will encourage young women in South Africa to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). The project should focus on girls between the ages of 8 to 13 and recruit female scientists who can talk about their own careers and experiences as professionals while serving as mentors and presenters. The African Climate Change and Environmental Reporting (ACCER) Awards aim to incentivize and create a critical mass of journalists reporting on the area of climate change and environment. The 2020 ACCER Awards contest theme is “Making Climate Action a Way of Life.” The award defines five categories for the submission of in-depth climate stories. The competition is open to all journalists from Africa working for established media houses, private or public-sector media. Freelance journalists and bloggers are also eligible.
