Thomson Reuters Foundation — Reporting on Climate Change

The Thomson Reuters Foundation invites journalists to participate in a training program on locally-led adaptation to climate change. This training opportunity offers a chance to understand the impact of climate change at a local level, and learn how to better report on the topic and enhance Civil Society Organizations communications to effectively communicate their message to the media. This training opportunity is open to multimedia journalists working in local or national media organizations in developing countries. The application deadline is 17 July 2022. International Union for Conservation of Nature — Sustainable Environments

The Resilient, Inclusive and Sustainable Environments (RISE) Grant Program supports strategies to prevent gender-based violence in the context of natural resource access and control. For that purpose, RISE seeks partnerships between environmental organizations, Indigenous Peoples’ organizations, local and grassroots communities. RISE seeks to fund up to six projects in the range of US$100 thousand to US$300 thousand each. Projects must be implemented in Central America and the Caribbean, Eastern and Southern Africa, or South and Southeast Asia. ASEAN Centre for Energy — ASEAN Energy Youth Awards 2022

The ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) announces the ASEAN Energy Youth Awards (AEYA) in recognition of young students’ valuable contribution to sustainable development and energy transition. The theme of the 3rd award is “Accelerating Energy Transition towards Economic Recovery and Sustainable Growth.” The winners and runners-up will be invited to the 40th of ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting in September 2022 and receive small cash prizes. European Commission — Optimize Farming and Forestry in North Macedonia

The European Commission (EC) seeks to modernize and optimize farming and forestry through provision of support to modernization and innovative management in the agricultural sector. EC will fund projects and business operations of entities active in the agricultural, forestry and agri-food industry, as well as activities to promote cooperation between farmers in order to establish producers’ organizations and co-operatives. Applicants can request up to €450 thousand in funding. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations legally established in North Macedonia. The application deadline is 18 July 2022. Know more

U.S. Department of State — Countering Wildlife Trafficking in Central and South America

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks to reduce poaching and trafficking of protected wildlife in Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, and Suriname. Projects should aim to strengthen the capacity of civil society and governments to detect, investigate, prosecute, and adjudicate wildlife trafficking cases. The overall funding amount is anticipated at US$4 million. Eligibility for this award is restricted to US-based and foreign non-profit organizations. Applications have to be received by 22 July 2022. U.S. Mission to Rwanda — Funding for Community Organizations

The Ambassador’s Special Self-Help (SSH) Program is a grants program that seeks to reduce poverty and hunger in sub-Saharan Africa. SSH announces an open competition for organizations in Rwanda to submit applications to carry out a small, community-based development program. Funding aims at assisting community groups to develop lasting, self-sustaining projects with focus on development concerns, including sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, and access to clean water and sanitation. U.S. Department of State — Built Water Storage in South Asia

The U.S. Department of State seeks organizations to build technical and policy capacity to develop and manage built water storage in the South Asian region. The project will  be implemented in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Pakistan. The intended beneficiaries of this project are government officials in the targeted countries; water management, environmental and energy management, and other related professionals; faculty members and advanced students. The anticipated award amount is US$1.28 million. Proposed programs should be completed in 36 months or less. Eligibility is restricted to non-profit organizations. World Academy of Sciences — Doctoral Fellowships in South Africa

The TWAS-NRF Doctoral Fellowships are awarded to scientists from developing countries (other than South Africa) to enable them to pursue PhD research in the natural sciences. Awarded candidates will be provided partial cost of study funding for tuition fees and accommodation. The maximum duration of the fellowship is 3 years. Eligibility extends to citizens and permanent residents from developing countries on the African continent and elsewhere. The call for applications is open until 08 July 2022. Link to TWAS-NRF

University St. Gallen — Consolidation Grant with Latin America

The Consolidation Grant promotes sustainable, longer-term research cooperation between Swiss and Latin American scholars. The goal is to provide financing for the organization of collective workshops, conferences, and fieldwork, as well as for the mobility of young researchers. The Leading House invites scholars from Switzerland to propose research projects in any Latin American country, involving bilateral or multilateral partnerships. The call is open to all disciplines and fields. Grants between CHF 25 thousand and CHF 50 thousand will be awarded. The application deadline is 31 July 2022. Link
