The Youth4Regions Program offers young aspiring journalists the chance to find out what the EU is doing in their region (the EU policy covers topics such as climate change, conservation, and sustainable development). Selected participants will receive mentorship from established journalists in their home country and have the opportunity to take part as a journalist in European Commission press trips to Member States. Accommodation and travel expenses are covered by the European Commission. Applicants must be citizens of a current EU, EU candidate or neighboring country, be between 18 and 30 years old, and have a background in journalism (applications from students are being accepted). Copernicus Masters — Environment, Energy & Health Challenge
Copernicus Masters is an international innovation competition that honors the best solutions using earth observation data and applications to solve global challenges. The Environment, Energy & Health Challenge, sponsored by DLR, seeks innovative solutions that use earth observation (EO) data to support sustainable management of the planet’s limited natural resources and foster human well-being. The winner of the DLR challenge receives €5 thousand. All participants have the chance to win an additional €10 thousand if chosen as the overall Copernicus winner. The winner receives a cash prize of €10 thousand, support to attend the Space Awards (including expenses for two people), plus other benefits. Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences — Prize in Food Security
The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) accepts nominations for the 2022 Al-Sumait Prize in Food Security. The prize is awarded to individuals or institutions who have made significant advancement in food security and nutrition in Africa. The prize is awarded within one of three fields – Food Security, Health and Education – and has a value of US$1 million. The candidates’ research projects must be innovative and have achieved high-impact in the African continent.
