The SMAIAS is an Independent Research Organisation which seeks to influence land and natural resources policies in Africa through multi-disciplinary science research, policy dialogues, and training. The Small Research Grants program is intended to support research projects with budgets of US$2,500 for dissertation writing. 3ie — Bursaries for attending EVIDENCE 2018
The AEN secretariat and 3ie offer bursaries to Africans for attending the EVIDENCE 2018 Conference in South Africa. The 2018 conference programme will focus on four areas of priority in Africa, including one on climate resilience. Applicants are required to submit an indication of how they intent to map out the evidence ecosystems in their respective countries, sectors, or areas of work. Applicants can either apply for a full bursary which covers the cost of conference registration, air travel, and accommodation, or a partial bursary which is a waiver of the conference registration fee only. The GHR Foundation invites proposals that address urgent global challenges in radically new ways. The BridgeBuilder Challenge to invite solutions that connect peace, prosperity, and the planet. Submissions should target a specific, pressing, and solvable need across two or more of these themes. The competition is open to non-profit and for-profit organizations established for at least one year. Proposed projects should not be longer than three years. Awards are up to US$500 thousand. Arab Council for the Social Sciences — Postdoctoral Fellowships 2018-2019
The Arab Council for the Social Sciences announces its fifth cycle of postdoctoral fellowships for junior Arab scholars. The program is open to individuals who completed their PhD within the past three years, and who are nationals or residents of countries in the League of Arab States. The fellowship provides for full costs over nine months in the proposed country/countries of residence where the fellow will reside. The thematic focus is open. European Commission — Combat Wildlife Trafficking in Asia
The European Commission calls for concept notes on combatting wildlife trafficking and forest crime in the Greater Mekong Region, Malaysia and China. Submitted projects may focus on strengthening the role of indigenous and local community involvement in combatting wildlife trafficking and forest crime, activities that seek to improve security and livelihoods of targeted groups, and activities that seek to limit demand for Asiatic wildlife and forest products, among others. The overall amount made available under this call is €8 million. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations established in a member state of the European Union, in an OECD member country, or in Cambodia, China, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. U.S. Department of State — Clean and Advanced Energy Investment Accelerator
The U.S. Department of State announces a funding opportunity for a cooperative agreement entitled “Clean and Advanced Energy Investment Accelerator (CAEIA)”.
