The Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT) Challenge Fund provides funding to innovative and scalable solutions to reduce pressure on wildlife from illegal trade and reduce poverty in developing countries. Proposals must align to one or more of the four project themes: (1) Reducing demand; (2) Ensuring effective legal frameworks; (3) Strengthening law enforcement; and (4) Developing sustainable livelihoods. The IWT Challenge Fund supports projects with different grant sizes depending on each project stage, ranging from £20 thousand to £1.5 million. United States Agency for International Development — Climate Resilient Agriculture
The United States Agency for International Development in Vietnam (USAID) seeks applications from qualified entities to implement the USAID Climate Resilient Agriculture in the Mekong Delta. The purpose of the program is to advance low-emissions, climate-resilient agricultural livelihoods combined with biodiversity conservation to support carbon sequestration, healthy ecosystems, and resilience of vulnerable communities. Next Generation Foresight Awards — Fellowship
The Next Generation Foresight Awards Fellowship is available to individuals who are advocating for foresight thinking and change in their community. Each fellow receives US$1,000 to develop their project. By the end of their one-year fellowship, all fellows have the chance to run for a more substantial grant of at least US$10 thousand. European Commission — Green Economy in Jordan
The European Commission (EC) seeks to contribute to the development of a green, environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive economy in Jordan. Funding is made available to projects that enhance coordination and sustainable resource management in the energy, water and agriculture sectors. The French Institutes for Advanced Study Fellowship Program offers 40 fellowship positions. The call is open to all disciplines in social sciences and the humanities and all research fields. The fellowship covers a living allowance of €2,700 per month, accommodation or support for relocation, an individual research and training budget equivalent to €2,500 per year, and travel expenses. Researchers from all countries are eligible but they have to have spent no more than 12 months in France during the three years prior to the application deadline. Earthwatch — Support for Field-Based Research Projects 2025
Earthwatch supports scientific field projects in topics of ecosystems and biodiversity in several world regions. Applicants to lead these field projects must have a PhD and can be of any nationality. Earthwatch invites projects that have a strong rationale for using non-specialists (volunteers) to aid with data collection, scientific observation, or other research tasks. Annual budgets range between US$20 thousand to US$80 thousand. Program themes include among others collaborative ecological research; ecological restoration; global conservation priorities; ocean ecosystems; and sustainable agriculture and forestry. U.S. Mission to Angola — Self-Help Program
The special self-help program of the U.S. Embassy to Angola supports small, sustainable community-based initiatives that have an immediate and strong impact on the local community. The Embassy expects to support different types of projects: from development projects such as agricultural and aquacultural cooperatives to women’s empowerment and the environment. Grants typically range from US$2.5 thousand to US$10 thousand per project. All applicants must include a significant community contribution. The JAMII Femmes initiative aims to increase the impact of African women entrepreneurs on the African economy and support the creation of innovative solutions for sustainable development. The program consists of a 4-month digital training phase, access to grants, an accelerator program and a special prize of US$10 thousand. NATO’s support for research in peace and security includes aspects of environment and energy in relation to climate change, water scarcity, increasing energy needs, disaster forecasts, and prevention of natural catastrophes (among others). The SPS Program supports multi-year research projects, research workshops, and training courses. Applications are invited from researchers in NATO’s member countries and its partner countries – including several in East Europe, Eurasia, Central Asia, and the Mediterranean region.
