Hurtigruten Foundation — Grants Program

The Hurtigruten Foundation seeks submissions for the Hurtigruten Foundation Grants Program to fight climate change, strengthen local communities, and stop unsustainable mass tourism. All grants are awarded in the range of €5 thousand to €10 thousand. The Foundation currently funds projects in Alaska, Antarctica, Arctic Canada and the Northwest Passage, Argentina, the British Isles, the Caribbean, Chile, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands, the Falkland Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Norway and Svalbard, Cape Verde, Senegal, Gambia and Guinea-Bissau in West Africa. Pulitzer Center — Impact Seed Fund

Impact Seed Funding (ISF) is a micro-scale grant provided by the Pulitzer Center to support education activities to enrich the perspectives and knowledge of the university community— specifically students and educators—about the problems, solutions, and innovations related to the impact of human activities in tropical forests, ocean, and the climate crisis. ISF grants range from US$2,000 to US$4,000. Applicants should be professors or researchers in a higher education institution, or groups of students guided by a responsible professor, and not have the project applied in Africa, Brazil, or Southeast Asia. Village Capital — Food Security and Resilience

Village Capital seeks entrepreneurs across Latin America to increase food security and resilience by supporting startups focused on reshaping consumer behavior and reducing loss risk in production. Participants have access to mentorship and milestone-based funding of US$4 thousand per organization. Eligibility extends to for-profit entities in Latin America that have a market-based solution that tackles food loss and food waste challenges. Applications close on 31 May 2024. About Her Culture offers micro-grants of US$500 to empower African and Caribbean women around the world for social and economic development. The micro-grants are open to women of Caribbean and African descent, who are entrepreneurs, creatives, and non-profit founders, based in their home countries or anywhere around the world. Espacio Lodo seeks people who run startups focused on the agricultural ecosystem. Young entrepreneurs from all over Latin America can promote their technology-based Agtech Startups. Inter-American Development Bank — Regional Public Goods

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) calls for proposals on regional public goods that have the potential to generate significant shared benefits. Proposals that address cross-cutting issues, such as climate change and environmental sustainability (among other themes), are particularly welcomed. Projects should be tri-national, or exceptionally bi-national. The size of the grant typically averages US$500 thousand per project for a maximum of 3 years. Counterpart resources are required. Association of Commonwealth Universities — Higher Education and SDGs Grants

The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) accepts applications for the Higher Education and the SDGs Challenge Grants to fund collaborative work around the sustainable development goals (SDGs). The grants are open to professional and academic staff at ACU member universities. Four grants of £2,500 are available. Applicants are encouraged to collaborate with member universities to promote further Commonwealth partnerships or other organizations such as local governments. The closing date is 02 June 2024. Melania Development Foundation — Support to Grassroots Womens’ Groups

Melania focuses on self-help projects that contribute to the improvement of the social, economic, and cultural position of women in Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America. Projects have to focus on income-generating activities, which may include agriculture (e.g., chicken farming, beekeeping, aquaculture, etc.) and several others. Melania invites and reviews project applications. Melania selects and proposes some of these projects to Dutch women’s groups for requested financial support. There is no calendar deadline. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Brazil

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Brazil. CFLI provides funding to projects that implement environment and climate action projects focusing on adaptation and mitigation, targeted response in the event of disasters as well as water management and other thematic areas. The average contribution is C$30 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to not-for-profit local, national, or community-based organizations. The deadline for submission is 01 April 2024. FONTAGRO — Climate Smart Agriculture Program

FONTAGRO seeks applications to improve the sustainability and resilience of production systems in the face of the impact of climate change in Latin America and the Caribbean without increasing greenhouse gas emissions.
