Earth Journalism Network — Media Grants to Strengthen Media Coverage of Environmental Crimes in the Amazon

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers organizational grants of US$5 thousand to US$12 thousand to media outlets, NGOs, and academic institutions to support media and journalism activities related to environmental crimes in the Amazon Region in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. EJN aims to strengthen the capacities of civil society actors and their regional networks to conserve biodiversity and prevent environmental crimes in the Amazon. Interested applicants should propose training activities for journalists, communicators and media professionals through workshops, webinars, or online courses, and/or support the production of investigative stories on environmental crimes that expand reporting in regional languages. Commission for Environmental Cooperation — Environmental Community Action

The Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) calls for applications for the new cycle of the North American Partnership for Environmental Community Action (NAPECA) grant program. The current call for proposals is aimed at organizations supporting environmental initiatives that will involve and empower Indigenous Peoples and communities and enhance climate adaptation by respectfully applying and protecting Indigenous knowledge systems. The CEC encourages applicants to submit proposals up to C$185 thousand. The program supports projects and partnerships in Canada, Mexico and the United States. Mitsubishi Corporation Foundation for the Americas — Grants for Environmental Conservation

The Mitsubishi Corporation Foundation for the Americas (MCFA) makes grants to nonprofit charitable organizations in Canada, the USA, and Latin America for biodiversity conservation, sustainable development, environmental justice, and environmental education. Most recent grants are for two to four years, ranging from under US$30 thousand up to US$1 million. The ideal timing for submitting proposals is during the first quarter of the calendar year. Link

Ashoka — Young Changemakers

Ashoka identifies and supports teenagers who start their own initiatives for addressing social and environmental problems. Selected Changemakers are inducted into a global community and gain access to co-leadership bootcamps, media partnerships, public speaking platforms, exposure visits, strategic allies and more opportunities to grow and to influence youth culture in their countries. Candidates must be under 20 years of age to participate. Ashoka offers youth related activities in Nigeria, Brazil, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and the United States. Climate and Clean Air Coalition — Reducing Methane Emissions from the Livestock Sector in Brazil

The Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) accepts applications to develop a strategy for supporting the reduction of methane emissions intensity from livestock production in Brazil. The project should support farmers of various sizes without excluding small holders. To be eligible for consideration, project proposals must be submitted by a non-governmental organization. Ford Motor Company — Ford Fund Fellowship

The Ford Fund Fellowship is a virtual program for social entrepreneurs and community leaders building ventures that create impactful and scalable innovations. Each Fellow will learn advanced skills in entrepreneurship and leadership. US$25 thousand in seed funding will be distributed among the 25 Ford Fund Fellows. Applicants from the following countries are welcome to apply: China, Germany, Mexico, Romania, South Africa, United Kingdom. Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis. U.S. National Science Foundation — Biodiversity on a Changing Planet

The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) invites submission of interdisciplinary proposals addressing grand challenges in biodiversity science within the context of unprecedented environmental change, including climate change. The program supports a comprehensive and integrative approach to understanding planetary biodiversity from a functional perspective. Research supported by this program will improve modeling and forecasting of the consequences of functional change in biodiversity. The program supports both US-only collaborative proposals and proposals with international partnerships with National Science Foundations in China, Brazil, and South Africa. Proposals may be submitted by non-profit organizations and institutions of higher education. The total anticipated funding amount is up to US$17 million. Depending on the quality of proposals, 4-6 awards are estimated to be made for design and implementation. Applications have to be submitted by 05 September 2024. Link

GET.invest — Finance Catalyst

The GET.invest Finance Catalyst supports small- and medium-scale renewable energy projects and businesses in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean or the Pacific region. The program provides advisory support on project and business plan development, project and business structuring and accessing finance, at no cost. Eligible applicants may be private sector developers, NGOs, universities or research institutions. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis. Once one round closes a new one opens. UK Government — Climate Finance Accelerator

The Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA) is a global technical assistance program to support climate smart projects to access finance. The aim is to facilitate a collaborative approach to unlocking finance for climate projects at scale and creating a pipeline of ‘investment ready’ low carbon projects. The CFA operates in Nigeria, Colombia, South Africa, Egypt, Uganda, Türkiye, Mexico, Peru, Pakistan, and Vietnam. The CFA offers a range of capacity building support to assist climate mitigation projects in accessing finance. Climate Tracker — Caribbean Journalism Award

The Caribbean Journalism Award aims to recognize journalism focused on climate change and environmental issues within the Caribbean region. The competition is open to journalists, writers, photographers, videographers, and multimedia creators from the Caribbean region. Each Awardee will receive US$400.
