Commonwealth Foundation — Grants for Civil Society in Commonwealth Countries
The Commonwealth Foundation makes grants to civil society organizations in Commonwealth countries to support participatory governance. (Note: This could include participatory governance related to the management of forests, wildlife, water supplies, and other subjects in natural resources and the environment.) The total grant amount requested must be between £15 thousand and £30 thousand per year for a maximum of two years. A list of eligible countries is included in the call. Italian Agency for Development Cooperation — Amazon Program
The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation announced a call for proposals to foster effective and sustainable cooperation with non-governmental organizations, with the aim of implementing concrete initiatives that contribute to strengthening local capacities and preventing deforestation and forest degradation of the Amazon Rainforest. The actions must be located in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. The approximate total amount amount is €1,5 million. To be able to opt for a subsidy, the applicant principal must be a civil society organization based in one of the eight countries of the Amazon basin or the European Union with a domicile abroad. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service — Conservation of Neotropical Migratory Birds 2025
The U.S. Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act sponsors an annual competitive grants program to support the conservation of neotropical migratory birds and their habitats in the USA, Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean. At least 75 percent of funding supports projects outside the USA. Grant requests have to be matched by partner contributions at no less than a 3-to-1 ratio. Eligibility to compete for funding is unrestricted. Applications should be submitted in English, but the program will accept accompanying versions of the application in Spanish and Portuguese. Commonwealth Secretariat — Youth Essay Award
The Commonwealth Secretariat launches the “Think Trade, Think Green: Commonwealth Innovative Youth Essay Award Competition.” This competition invites young researchers and students aged 18-29 to explore the relationship between trade and climate change and propose how trade policy can be part of the solution to the climate crisis. Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean — Rural World in Latin America and the Caribbean
The Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean seeks research proposals to fund up to nine research projects that contribute to understanding the main problems faced by rural societies and productive means in the economies of Latin America and the Caribbean. Three projects will be selected from those related to poverty and inequality, three from risk and climate change and sustainable development, while the remaining three will be selected from those related to rurality. Inter-American Foundation — Research Fellowship Program
The Inter-American Foundation (IAF) welcomes applicants for its new Research Fellowship Program to advance rigorous field-based research on actionable questions about community-led development in Latin America and the Caribbean. Each fellowship includes a stipend of US$20 thousand to support an individual researcher working for twelve months. Inter-American Development Bank — Regional Public Goods
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) calls for proposals on regional public goods that have the potential to generate significant shared benefits. Proposals that address cross-cutting issues, such as climate change and environmental sustainability (among other themes), are particularly welcomed. Projects should be tri-national, or exceptionally bi-national. The size of the grant typically averages US$500 thousand per project for a maximum of 3 years. Counterpart resources are required. Watson Institute — Western Union Foundation Fellowship
The Western Union Foundation Fellowship is for young entrepreneurs and community leaders who are from highly marginalized, refugee, and forcibly displaced communities around the globe. The 16-week-long program is designed to equip entrepreneurs with the skills and experience to transform their communities. US$25 thousand in seed funding will be distributed among the Fellows. Thomson Reuters Foundation — Communicating Just Transition Issues
The Thomson Reuters Foundation offers a free communication course for organizations in India, Bangladesh, and Brazil working in communication and journalism. The online course will consist of a series of training in which participants will receive training in parallel with climate journalists. Those who make the shortlist will have an opportunity to pitch their story ideas to the lead trainers for a chance to receive a £300 story grant.
