Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in the Caribbean Islands

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The priorities under this call include women’s economic rights, decent jobs and entrepreneurship, and investing in the poorest and most vulnerable (which may include agriculture or aquaculture projects), as well as environment, climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, and water management. Project funding is up to C$50 thousand. Eligibility extends to local community organizations, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions. The deadline for submission is 31 October 2022. Association of Commonwealth Universities — Early-Career Conference Grants

Early-career conference grants support emerging academics so they can take part in conferences that can have a profound impact on their teaching and research. This year’s grants are being offered for both virtual (online) and in-person conferences. Virtual conference grants cover the conference registration fee of up to £600 and a data grant of £50 for applicants who do not have reliable access to Wi-Fi. In-person conference grants are a maximum of £2,000 to cover conference registration fees, flights, accommodation and other travel related costs. United Nations Development Programme — Climate Innovation Accelerator

The Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator (AFCIA) accepts applications for small grant funding. Grants are US$60 thousand (for new pilot projects) or US$125 thousand (for organizations with established customers). Funding should be used to enhance local climate action through the implementation of innovative locally-led adaptation practices, tools, and technologies. Grant funding is open to non-profit organizations, civil society organizations, business member associations, cooperatives, and community-based organizations registered in a developing country. UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council — Partnerships with Brazil

The BBSRC Partnering Awards aim to set up partnership links between UK and overseas laboratories, promote the exchange of scientists, particularly early career scientists, and to promote access to facilities. Funding of up to £50 thousand is available for a period of up to four years for partnerships with Brazilian bioscience laboratories. International partnerships focusing on the net zero carbon emissions target, through a sustainable, resilient and bio-diverse agri-food system are especially welcome. European Commission — Civil Society Organizations Development in Mexico

The European Commission seeks to contribute to green and inclusive economic growth in Mexico by strengthening the capacity of civil society to participate and influence reinforcing nature-based climate change adaptation measures. Project partners should prioritize the implementation and monitoring of public policies for adaptation to climate change, through measures based on coastal and maritime ecosystems. Applicants may request up to €1.8 million for their action plans. Eligibility extends to non-profit civil society organizations established in a Member State of the European Union or Mexico. 100,000 Strong in the Americas — Cacao for Peace Innovation Fund

The Cacao for Peace Innovation Fund Grant Competition is designed to create and implement new student/faculty exchange and training programs in areas related to the cocoa value chain. Proposals must propose a research project focused on the cacao sector. The Innovation Fund intends to award up to eight grants of US$25 thousand. Higher education institutions in Colombia and the United States are eligible to apply. The deadline to apply is 31 January 2023. Link

World Wildlife Fund U.S. — Reforestation Grants

The Reforestation Grant Program supports communities in deforested and degraded landscapes through forest restoration and reforestation. Reforestation grants are made to local organizations that focus on connecting corridors, creating buffer zones, improving degraded lands, restoring watersheds, and expanding forest cover. Eligible countries and eco-regions are listed in the announcement. Project budgets should not exceed US$15 thousand. Application deadline is 30 November 2022. Reforestation Grants

SEED and Go4SDGs — Webinar: LAC Future Lab

SEED and Go4SDGs organize the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Future Lab for Innovation and Policy. The LAC Future Lab offers a platform to develop future-proof solutions for challenges in the agri-food sector. The Lab will discuss practical solutions and exemplary cases for the industry’s challenges. The Future Lab targets green SMEs and organizations, who work at the interface of business, civil society and politics supporting green SMEs or circular economy solutions. GreenTech — Latin America Event

Greentech Business is a platform of technological solution research with a high potential of positive impact on environmental problems. The fourth edition of GreenTech América Latina seeks innovative sustainable technologies start-ups who seek to advance towards decarbonization. By registering solutions on the platform, inventors gain global reach and visibility, and will automatically be participating in the selection process to present their company at the GreenTech América Latina 2022 event. Facebook announces its Community Accelerator Program to provide training, support and funding to enable great communities to make an even greater positive impact in the world. Facebook will award up to US$40 thousand per community and provide personalized coaching. The program is open to communities that have a presence in Facebook Groups with leaders who reside in the following countries: Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Mexico, Brazil, United States, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Bangladesh, United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia, Tanzania, Egypt, Morocco, Lebanon, Jordan, United Arab Emirate & India.
