NOAA currently invites applications for the international program, with priority for the Wider Caribbean, South East Asia and South Pacific, and Micronesia. The program offers funding from US$40 thousand to US$300 thousand per year for projects of up to two years. The United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Marine Debris Program supports the development and implementation of locally-driven, marine debris assessment, removal and prevention projects that benefit coastal habitat, waterways, and marine resources. Projects awarded through this competition may be implemented throughout the United States or within coastal areas of Mexico or Canada as long as it benefits US resources. The typical funding level of project awards ranges from US$50 thousand to US$400 thousand. Marine debris projects can apply for removal, prevention, and research grants. Eligible applicants for projects taking place in Mexico or Canada are limited to institutions of higher education, nonprofit organizations or commercial (for-profit) organizations with expertise in a field related to marine debris. The CIVICUS Nelson Mandela-Graça Machel Innovation Awards shed a light on the importance of people power and civil society activism in creating a more just, inclusive and sustainable world. The Awards will recognize seven individuals, groups or organizations that stand out for their innovative work building people power in support of human rights and social justice for everyone. Caribbean Policy Development Centre — Sustainable Livelihoods in Vulnerable Communities
The Caribbean Policy Development Centre seeks partners to implement a project to strengthen the enabling environment for Caribbean NGOs to provide essential developmental services to vulnerable communities by improving access to resources and increasing institutional capacity building opportunities post-COVID 19. Applicants are encouraged to include specific activities in their actions to increase livelihood opportunities for vulnerable groups in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean. Grant requests must fall between US$10 thousand and US$12 thousand. To be eligible, the applicant must be non-profit-making and be a legally registered and established organization in the Caribbean States: Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and Grenadines. Global Water Partnership-Caribbean — Water Resource Projects in the Caribbean
The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean invites project proposals for the implementation of short-term small-scale Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and Integrated Water Resources and Wastewater Management (IWWM) projects in the Caribbean. Projects based on hydro-geological mapping, capacity building, and feasibility assessments must have a total cost between €1,000 and €5,000. Projects for the implementation of innovative decentralized, rural community-based interventions for wastewater management must have a total cost of no more than US$25 thousand. Global Landscapes Forum — Amazonian Storytelling Competition
TThe Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) hosts an Amazonian Storytelling Competition looking for perspectives from Indigenous peoples and local communities, Afro-descendant peoples, peasants and women, farmers, and community leaders. Topics include deforestation, biodiversity loss, land rights, ecosystem restoration, and food security, among others. The three best stories will receive prizes of €500, €300 and €200 respectively. The competition is open to any young person between the ages of 18 and 35 who is currently living in the Amazon (Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Peru, Suriname, Venezuela). Cultural Survival supports Indigenous community radio projects. The Community Radio Transmitters Call gives Indigenous community radio stations the chance to acquire transmitters and complementary equipment. The maximum grant amount awarded will be US$4 thousand. FameLab Climate Change Communicators is a global online competition and training event to build trust in climate science. The British Council invites aspiring climate change communicators to submit a video giving a three-minute talk in English related to the theme of ‘Trust in Climate Science’.
