The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) is a global program that provides grants to civil society to safeguard the world’s biodiversity hotspots. The CEPF intends to engage a consultant to develop an innovative knowledge product that will document best practice pertaining to the identification and mapping of areas of social and environmental importance where “invisible” traditional communities of the Cerrado reside. The consultancy will be conducted over a six-month period between September 2020 and March 2021. The total amount of time for the assignment is estimated at 20 days. U.S. Agency for International Development — Coastal and Marine Habitat Conservation in Haiti
USAID seeks to improve human wellbeing and reduce the threats to biodiversity by improving agriculture and fishing practices in coastal and marine environments of Haiti. USAID will provide funding for projects that reduce the underlying threats to coastal and marine resources; enhance the resilience of coastal communities; conserve flora and fauna in select marine protected areas by strengthening governance structures that have the ability to adaptively manage protected areas; and ensure long-term conservation by implementing sustainable natural resource management strategies. The estimated total project funding is US$500 thousand. Eligibility is restricted to non-profit organizations and institutions of higher education based in Haiti. The Hawk Watch Fund offers grants of US$250 to US$1000 to non-profit hawk watch groups in the Americas. The Food for Progress (FFPr) Program provides for the donation of U.S. agricultural commodities to developing countries in support agricultural development activities. Priority areas under this call are: the Cacao Sector (Colombia), the Cashew Sector (West Africa), the Vanilla Spice Sector (Uganda), Sanitary and Phytosanitary Standards (Dominican Republic), and the Trade Facilitation Agreement (Bangladesh). USDA intends to make up to five awards ranging from US$15 million US$35 million each. U.S. Department of State — Technology to Safeguard Ocean Ecosystems and Resources
The U.S. Department of State provides financial assistance to ocean conservation projects in developing countries. A grant for up to US$200 thousand will be awarded for work that will support effective management of Marine Protected Areas in selected countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region. The proposed program could include at least one technological solution to improve MPA surveillance. British Council — Newton Fund Institutional Links with Mexico
The Newton Institutional Links provides grants for research and innovation collaboration between the UK and Mexico. Subject areas for the collaborative research include local development challenges such as extreme weather conditions, access to affordable health care, food and energy security, among others. Proposals are submitted jointly by a principal investigator in the UK with a principal investigator in Mexico. Grants range from £50 thousand to £300 thousand over two years. International Water Center — International Masters Scholarships (Integrated Water Management)
Australia’s International Water Center announces funding for international candidates accepted into the Master of Integrated Water Management in Australia. Two scholarships will cover full tuition and living expenses of up to AU$95,564 (Type A Scholarship), and a third will cover full tuition of up to AU$58,989 (Type B Scholarship). Applications are invited from eligible countries in Asia-Pacific; Africa; Latin America and Caribbean; the Middle East; Europe; and North America.
