U.S. Department of Agriculture — Borlaug Fellowships in Agricultural Science and Technology
The Borlaug Fellowship Program supports short-term research projects to improve agricultural productivity, economic development, and food security in over developing countries. The program offers training and collaborative opportunities for agricultural research, international agricultural economics, leadership, and policy. The program lists the eligible countries, and the research priorities for each of them. Fellows work one-on-one with a U.S. mentor who will coordinate the training program. After completion of the 6 months fellowship, the mentor will visit the fellow’s home institution to continue collaboration. USDA will select U.S. host institutions and mentors for each fellow. U.S. Agency for International Development — Energy Resilience in Jamaica
The US Agency for International Development (USAID) supports actions and activities that will strengthen the ability of Jamaica’s energy sector. USAID requests solutions that advance the development of a resilient alternative energy market. Concept notes should propose activities valued at no less than US$2 million. North American Banding Council — Training for Bird Banders in Latin America
The North American Banding Council (NABC) and Association of Field Ornithologists (AFO) invite applications for small grants that support the development and certification of Latin American and Caribbean bird banders. Grants can be made to groups organizing NABC-based certification sessions and/or NABC-based training sessions that culminate in a certification opportunity. European Commission — Defense of Environmental Rights in Peru
The European Commission aims to strengthen environmental protection and mitigation of climate change by protecting environmental human rights and their defenders. This call focuses on (1) Promoting the transition to a low carbon economy in the Peruvian Amazon; and (2) Improving compliance with Environmental Human Rights (DHA) for better environmental governance. Projects with focus on low-carbon transition can apply for funding of between €500 thousand and €805 thousand. Projects with focus on environmental human rights can apply for funding up to €382 thousand. The JK VISIONARIES award recognizes organizations that are working to improve lives in Latin America and the Caribbean. The award seeks sustainable solutions that solve people’s problems with new tools, methods, or techniques (possibly within one or more thematic areas of the Terra Viva Grant Directory) with the potential to be replicated in other countries. The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) offers seed funding to support the exchange of researchers under the program “São Paulo Researchers in International Collaboration” (SPRINT). The 4th call seeks collaborations with selected partner research organizations in Argentina, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, United States, and New Zealand. The fields of joint research interest include environment, energy, and others — varying with each partnership. University of East Anglia — International Development Excellence Scholarships for Brazil Students
The University of East Anglia invites applications for the International Development Excellence Scholarships for the academic year 2020/21 for students from Brazil. Acceptable masters degree subjects include agriculture and rural development, climate change and international development, environment and international development, amongst others. Eligibility extends to Brazilian citizens that have an undergraduate degree from a recognized university. The five scholarships offered range between £7,000 to £8,000 for successful candidates during their master’s studies in the UK.
