Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation — Navjot Sodhi Conservation Research Award 2017

The ATBC makes the Navjot Sodhi Conservation Research Award each year to a student from a developing country. Eligibility extends to ATBC student members who are nationals of tropical developing countries, and who are conducting research that directly contributes to biodiversity conservation within the tropics. All individuals who have been students within the previous 12 months can apply. The award is up to US$500. The deadline for submitting nominations and self-nominations is 31 December. World Wide Fund For Nature — Prince Bernhard Scholarships for Nature Conservation 2018

WWF supports professional training and formal studies of individuals working in disciplines directly relevant to nature conservation. Eligibility extends to mid-career nationals from Africa; Asia and Pacific; Latin America and Caribbean; Eastern Europe; and the Middle East. The maximum grant is CHF 10 thousand for studies or training lasting one year or less. The deadline for applications (English, French, Spanish) is 01 January 2018. About the scholarships

Water Joint Programming Initiative — Water Resource Management

The Water JPI aims to enable transnational, collaborative research, development and innovation projects addressing questions relating to water challenges. Proposals are invited on the topic “Water resource management in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals”. Only proposals submitted by transnational consortia will be eligible (each consortium must be composed of at least a minimum of three eligible partners from three different countries). Eligibility extends to universities, public research institutions, private non-profit organisations, and private companies. The requested budget per proposal must not exceed € 1.5 million. UK Natural Environment Research Council — Exploring Colombian Bio Resources

The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) invite research proposals under the ‘Exploring and understanding Colombian bio resources’ call. Collaborative UK and Colombian research projects should support the identification and understanding of the benefits provided by biodiversity, new technologies, and social frameworks.The specific themes are described in the announcement. French Development Research Institute — Collaboration with Latin America

The program EMHE (Enhancing Mobility between Latin American and Carribbean countries and Europe) invites applications from doctoral graduates in Argentina, Costa Rica, Peru, and Uruguay for collaboration in IRD’s research programs. Mennonite Economic Development Associates — Non-Traditional Finance for Agricultural Innovations

MEDA calls for proposals focusing on non-traditional finance to catalyze agricultural innovation by smallholder farmers in East Africa, the Andes region of South America, and South Asia. The call is open to private enterprises (including cooperatives and producer associations), financial institutions, finance-oriented organizations, research institutions, and NGOs. Applicants may be based in the target regions or outside the target regions, but project implementation must be in the target regions. Successful proposals will be awarded up to CAD $200 thousand (pilot award) or up to CAD $50 thousand (case study award). The submission deadline is 06 October 2017. Find the call for proposals

UK Met Office — Collaboration with Brazil in Climate Science

The Climate Science for Service Partnership Brazil (CSSP Brazil) announces grants for UK researchers on subjects of climate change and disaster risk in Brazil. The focal areas are models of vegetation dynamics; the use of in-situ forest observations and measurements to evaluate models; the use of regional-scale observations and measurements to evaluate models; and detection and attribution of impacts of climate change in Brazil. Organic Farming Research Foundation — Research Grants 2018

OFRF offers funding for research on organic farming and food systems and the dissemination of these research results to organic farmers and agricultural and research communities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Priorities are research on soil health; innovative weed control; issues of emerging insects and diseases; and livestock health.  OFRF particularly encourages farmers, ranchers, graduate students, early-career researchers, veterans, and extension personnel to consider applying for funding. Netherlands Fellowship Program — KOP Funding for Short Courses

The Netherlands Fellowship Program has started a new phase under the name KOP (Kennisontwikkelings programma). The first round of KOP offers scholarships for short courses in the Netherlands to applicants from the following countries: Albania, Armenia, Bhutan, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cuba, Djibouti, Dem Rep Congo, Georgia, India, Jordan, Lebanon, Macedonia, Mongolia, Nepal, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Senegal, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Surinam, Thailand, and Zimbabwe. The subject areas for short courses include many in agriculture and environment, among others. Applicants in participating countries study the course database to find short courses eligible for scholarships. The profile of each course identifies the application deadline and how to apply to the Dutch university, including contact information.  For candidates that are selected, the Dutch university submits the application for KOP scholarships. CRDF Global — Travel Grants for U.S. Early-Career Scientists

CRDF Global announces the 2017 Catalyzing New Research Partnerships Program. The program aims to catalyze new international research collaborations for U.S. early-career scientists with partners in South and Southeastern Asia; Latin America: and West Africa. The subject areas of interest are biological sciences; geosciences; and others. CRDF will make travel grants up to US$10 thousand for U.S. early-career scientists residing and working in the USA to lay the foundation for new international research partnerships in the priority regions.
