Commonwealth Secretariat — Youth Essay Award

The Commonwealth Secretariat launches the “Think Trade, Think Green: Commonwealth Innovative Youth Essay Award Competition.” This competition invites young researchers and students aged 18-29 to explore the relationship between trade and climate change and propose how trade policy can be part of the solution to the climate crisis. The first prize is £1,000, the second and third prizes are £500 each. Applicants must be Commonwealth nationals to participate in this competition. The submission deadline is 21 August 2024. International Iguana Foundation — Grants for Iguana Conservation

The International Iguana Foundation makes grants to promote and enable iguana conservation. Preference will be given to projects that are components of approved species recovery plans; projects that directly contribute to the survival of endangered iguanas and their habitats; and projects that are part of an established conservation program. The Foundation looks for projects that have participation from range countries and matching funds. Small-tier grants provide up to US$10 thousand over 1 year. NDN Collective — Community Self-Determination

The Community Self-Determination grant program invests in the self-determination of Indigenous people working in their community. Applicants are encouraged to describe their community self-determination efforts within one of the following strategic focus areas that are best suited for their intentions and goals (e.g., climate justice work, clean energy initiatives, access to clean water, etc.). Grants of US$40 thousand per year, with a commitment of two years. The geographical focus is Turtle Island (Island Nations of American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as Canada and Mexico). Soroptimist — Support to Women Achieve Educational Goals

The Live Your Dream Awards offers cash awards of US$1 thousand to US$10 thousand to help women who are the sole financial providers for their families cover tuition costs, purchase books, get transportation, or find reliable childcare. The applicant has to be enrolled in or accepted to a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program and reside in one of the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guam, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Taiwan, United States of America, Venezuela. Sahee Foundation — Development in Swaziland and Peru

The Sahee Foundation makes grants for agriculture, health, education, and the environment in Swaziland and Peru. Sahee selects its partners among regional organizations that are well integrated in these target countries, as well as among local groups in Swaziland and Peru that launch development projects. For first applicants, the project budget must not exceed CHF10 thousand. There is no calendar deadline for applications. Details

Earth Journalism Network — Virtual Reporting Fellowships

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) announces two virtual fellowship programs that will support journalists from Africa and Latin America to cover the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the 16th Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). Fellows fellows will receive training, mentorship, and other support to facilitate remote reporting on these important events. All fellows will also receive a communications stipend of US$100 to ensure that they have consistent access to the virtual activities of the fellowship. To be eligible for the fellowship, the applicant must be a professional journalist from or representing an established media house. The application deadline is 15 August 2024. Brazil-UK PACT — Mobilising Green Investment Program

Brazil-UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) seeks proposals to fund projects that will support the Brazilian government in enhancing the reach and effectiveness of green finance in the country. The program funds capacity-building interventions that aim to increase the mobilization of green investments to mitigate climate change, while also helping to drive economic development. Funding of up to £500 thousand is available per project/year. Projects should support public financial institutions to allocate and leverage green finance resources or support measures for national and subnational governments to mobilize different sources of capital towards green projects. Eugenio Garza Lagüera Entrepreneurship Institute — Climate Acceleration Program

The Eugenio Garza Lagüera Entrepreneurship Institute invites applications for an acceleration program to develop capabilities and provide resources to startups with high business potential and climate impact. Entrepreneurs must have a product or service that aligns with at least one of the following impact areas: Energy access and generation; Low emission transport; Buildings, cities, industries, and appliances; Forestry and land use resources. The program includes a grant without dilution from equity to €100 thousand and mentorship from experts. Businesses located in Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, or the Dominican Republic are eligible to apply. The application deadline is 23 August 2024. Details

Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Biodiversity Conservation in the Caribbean Islands

The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) makes small and large grants in support of biodiversity conservation in the Caribbean “Caribbean Islands Biodiversity Hotspot.” Grants support community-based sustainable small-scale fisheries, protection and conservation of endangered marine species, marine protected areas management, and activities that promote improved marine and coastal ecosystems. Small grants are between US$5,000 and US$50 thousand. Large grants are greater than US$50 thousand. Eligibility for grants extends to NGOs, community groups, private enterprises, universities, and other civil society applicants. The deadline for letters of inquiry is 09 September 2024. coLABS seeks scalable social enterprises that have the potential to dramatically improve the lives of women and girls around the world. coLABS strategically funds entrepreneurs and early-stage ventures that leverage women, and their critical role in the community through revenue-share investment capital.
