Clean Cooking Alliance — Field Study: Efficient Cookstoves and Fuels in Haiti

The Alliance launches a four-year clean cooking market development project in Haiti. The project aims to set the foundation for the transformation of the clean cooking market to cleaner and more efficient cookstoves and fuels in Haiti. The overall objective is to reduce the negative climate, environment, economic, and health impacts from traditional cooking practices. For that reason, the Alliance is seeks qualified experts to conduct a 12-month field study. Proposals have to be submitted by 24 March 2019. Link

African Union — Support for Youth and Women in Livestock, Fisheries and Agribusiness

The African Union aims to promote the entrepreneurial agribusiness as means for job and wealth creation for Africa’s youth and women. Proposed projects under this call should address actions in the thematic areas of fisheries, aquaculture, animal farming and agribusiness networks. Existing agribusinesses and agribusiness startups may request grants of US$10 thousand or US$20 thousand. Deadline for submission of applications is 28 March 2019. Information

Society for International Development — Andrew E. Rice Award 2019

The Andrew E. Rice Award for Leadership and Innovation recognizes the achievements of an exceptional young professional working in the field of international development. Past winners include field research on agriculture strategies and the creation of low-cost digital games that inspire social change. Candidates must be between 22 to 32 years old and have at least two years of experience in international development in developing countries. The winner will receive US$1,000. West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use — Fellowships for Doctoral and Masters Studies

With funding provided by Germany, WASCAL engages in research to help tackle the severe challenges posed by climate change, focusing on West Africa. The WASCAL Graduate Studies Program offers full scholarships to support four master’s and six doctoral programs implemented at ten universities in West African countries. WASCAL’s member countries are Bénin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Niger, Mali, Nigeria, Sénegal, and Togo. Doctoral students may spend up to six months at a host institution in Germany. Graduate students have access to the WASCAL research facilities located in various watersheds of West Africa. UN Convention to Combat Desertification — Land for Life Award 2019

The Land for Life Award recognizes efforts towards achieving land degradation neutrality. Individuals, businesses, non-profit organizations, academic and research organizations are eligible to apply. (Note: The award is not endowed.) Nominations have to be submitted by 30 March 2019. Link

Small-Scale Initiatives Program — Biodiversity Conservation in Central and Western Africa

The Small-Scale Initiatives Program (PPI) launches a new call for proposals “small grants” projects. Funding will be available to local non-profit projects in Central and Western African countries with the aim contribute to biodiversity conservation and addressing climate change adaptation. Grassroots Justice Prize — Legal Empowerment for Communities

The Grassroots Justice Prize recognizes grassroots institutions across the globe that are working to put the power of law into people’s hands. Three awards, each of US$10 thousand, are available to non-profit organizations, social enterprises, and public institutions that focus on legal empowerment to tackle poverty, injustice, or other social problems. U.S. Agency for International Development — Agriculture and Food-Systems Development Burma

USAID seeks applications to implement the Agriculture and Food-Systems Development Activity in Burma. Projects should focus on increased access to agriculture support services, economic interdependence among market actors of different ethnic backgrounds, smallholder based supply-chains, and women’s empowerment in agribusiness. USAID intends to provide US$38 million in total funding over a five year period. Eligibility extends to organizations. Individuals are not eligible to submit applications. Government of India — India-Egypt Bilateral Cooperation

The Government of India invites research projects to apply to the Call for Joint Proposals, with the aim of encouraging scientific and technological co-operation between Egypt and India. Priority research areas include biotechnology, energy applications, among others. Financial support for international air fares, accommodation and Rs2,500 per diem for expenses, and also minor support for research related expenses like contingency and consumables can be provided. U.S. Agency for International Development — Capacity Grants for NGOs in the Caribbean

The USAID/Eastern and Southern Caribbean Local Capacity for Local Solutions (LCLS) project focuses on building the capacity of NGOs in the Eastern and Southern Caribbean region. USAID will award Comprehensive Capacity Grants of US$25 thousand to non-profit organizations with projects in different sectors, one of which is the environment. Eligibility extends to local NGOs from Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana,  St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.
