Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research — Travel Support to Attend Meetings and Conferences
The Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR) provides travel support for scientists from low- to medium-income countries to attend ocean science meetings. The purpose of this support is to help scientists, particularly early-career scientists, to network with colleagues from other countries, share their research, and form partnerships in the global ocean science community. WASCAL — Master’s Program on Climate Change and Marine Sciences
The Technical University of Atlantic (Cabo Verde) seeks applications for its Master’s Program on Climate Change and Marine Sciences (MP-CCMS). The West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) offers scholarships to African MSc students. The program includes English language training for participants from Francophone countries, three semesters of joint Master’s courses, shipboard training, and a scientific trip to a German partner institution. To eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be citizens of Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, or Togo. Beyond Plastic Med — Reduce Plastic Pollution in the Mediterranean Islands
Beyond Plastic Med (BeMed) launches a call for projects to reduce plastic pollution in the Mediterranean islands. BeMed’s contribution is €100 thousand per project (up to 70% of the total project value). Project duration should not exceed 24 months. The call is open all the countries around the Mediterranean. Proposed projects must target a Mediterranean island (or a set of islands). Organizations developing activities in the areas of awareness raising, environmental protection and lobbying, or the development of innovative solutions to reduce pollution are especially welcome to apply. The CCAMLR Scientific Scholarship provides funding of up to A$30 thousand to assist early-career scientists to participate in the work CCAMLR working groups over a period of two years. Working topics include research into krill population dynamics, approaches to spatial management of marine protected areas, integrated stock assessments for fisheries, among others. The British Embassy Chisinau seeks applications from organizations working on climate change and environmental issues in Moldova. This call for proposals seeks applications for projects related to renewable energy; green finance; nature-based solutions to mitigate climate change and biodiversity loss, restoration of natural habitats and ecosystems; and adaptation and resilience. The Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) will invest up to £9.3 million in demonstration-stage projects of commercial products and solutions that have the potential to transform lives in developing countries. The project must be relevant to one of 10 Sustainable Development Goals listed in the announcement, including SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation; SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities; SDG 13: Climate Action; SDG 14: Life below Water; SDG 15: Life on Land. The maximum grant award per project is £60 thousand. The lead applicant must be a UK business and will distribute any funding to international (non-UK) partners. The G. Unger Vetlesen Foundation makes grants for research and operational support in marine and ocean conservation, earth sciences, climate change, and wildlife management.
