The Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs, U.S. State Department, announces the “Building Air Quality Management Capacity in Central Asia” program. The project targets government entities with the intend to strengthen regulatory and monitoring capacity of government actors and expand awareness of air quality issues in Central Asian countries. The program intends to provide US$296,296 in funding to be used for the production of educational materials, expert workshops, and the development of a monitoring and evaluation plan to be used by key agencies. Countries eligible for funding under this award include: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Norway’s International Climate and Forest Initiative — Reducing Deforestation and Forest Degradation
Norway’s International Climate and Forest Initiative (NICFI) supports efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions resulting from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries. Civil society organizations are invited to submit proposals for projects that reverse and reduce the loss of tropical forests. Priority geographic focus for funding are Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Guyana, DR Congo, Gabon, the Republic of Congo, Liberia, Ethiopia and Indonesia. However, strategic projects focusing on other important tropical forest countries will also be considered. Projects should cover a five-year period. Government of India — Cleaning the Ganga and Agri-Water
The Department of Science and Technology (DST) India and the Dutch Research Council (NWO) aim to contribute to cleaning the Ganga, with particular focus on the impact of agriculture on the Ganga water system. Proposed projects may focus on river basin system management and research, propose interventions to improve agricultural water management, or produce science-based recommendations for policies and regulations that contribute to increased water awareness. Proposals should furthermore be characterized by equal partnership and sustainable collaboration between the Indian and Dutch partners. Applications can be submitted by consortia that include research organizations, academic institutions, and/or public, semi-public or private organizations (for-profit or non-profit). Colorado State University — Seminar: Planning and Managing Tourism in Protected Areas
Colorado State University (CSU) offers a seminar in the Western USA for individuals engaged in tourism and outdoor recreation in protected areas. The next seminar is scheduled for September 2020. Ideal participants are mid-level professional and technical personnel who work for governmental or NGO conservation and tourism organizations; in academia; in the private sector; and in community-based and indigenous tourism and conservation initiatives in or near protected areas. Heineken Africa Foundation — Water, Sanitation, and Health for Africa
The Heineken Africa Foundation funds projects to improve mother/child care, and projects for water, sanitation, and health (WASH). The support extends to projects in Sub-Saharan African countries where Heineken has a local operating presence. For each project a partnership is created between the Foundation, the local Heineken brewery and a local or international NGO. The Foundation provides funding and administrative assistance.
