Mekong Commons — Writing Workshop

Mekong Commons invites applications for our 3-day online writeshop to be held in February 2023. Selected applicants will receive a grant to participate in the online workshop to learn about writing engaging stories, and to plan, research and finish their article about current environmental and development topics in the Mekong Region. Global Landscapes Forum — Social Media Ambassadors

The Global Landscapes Forum launches a call for young voices from all over the world to become GLF Social Media Ambassadors for 2023. The volunteer program offers free tickets and a behind-the-scenes look at all GLF and partner events, social media workshops and learning programs and a personalized certificate. Earth Journalism Network — Reporting on the Mediterranean Sea (Morocco)

Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers reporting grants to journalists from Morocco interested in developing in-depth stories exposing the scale of unsustainable marine management and biodiversity loss in the Mediterranean Sea. ENJ expects to make 5 awards of €500 each. Applicants can be from all countries that border the Mediterranean Sea. Applicants must be based in Morocco. Applications are open to journalists working in any medium (online, print, television, radio) and other expert media practitioners with professional reporting experience. Earth Journalism Network — Reporting Grants Blue Economy in Belize

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers reporting grants to journalists in Belize, to support the production of in-depth stories on the protection, conservation and management of reef health. Stories should raise awareness about the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth in Belize, and initiatives to improve livelihoods and jobs while preserving the health of the ocean ecosystem. ENJ plans to award 10 story grants of US$1,400 each to Belizean journalists. Applications are open to journalists working in any medium (online, print, television, radio, multimedia). The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) invites journalists from India to apply for a media workshop on covering pathways to Net Zero, to be held in Kolkata (February 2023). The workshop will help journalists improve their understanding of the energy transition, and learn how to report more effectively on climate change. The workshop is open to journalists from print, television, online and/or radio. EJN will bear the travel, accommodation, and meal costs of selected participants. Earth Journalism Network — Stop Spillover Media Grants

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers grants to media organizations to support capacity-building activities for media and journalists related to understanding and preventing zoonotic viral spillover. EJN is particularly interested in projects that help journalists use data and the latest scientific research in their reporting. Applications are open to traditional news media, broadcast media, development media, new media and independent media outlets from the following countries: Liberia, Sierra Leone, Côte d’Ivoire, Bangladesh, Cambodia and Vietnam. Earth Journalism Network — Media Workshop: Indigenous Environmental Reporting

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) invites Indigenous journalists from around the world to apply for a two-day media workshop (Kenya, February 2023). The workshop will explain the importance of Indigenous environmental reporting and build valuable journalistic skills to help participants strengthen their reporting and storytelling skills. The workshop is open to Indigenous journalists from any country interested in covering Indigenous environmental issues. Trust for Sustainable Living — Schools Sustainability Challenge

The Trust for Sustainable Living (TSL) Schools Sustainability Challenge is a video contest for schools around the world. Schools are invited to create a short video (max. 1 minute) showcasing their best messages on ‘My Local Sustainability Challenges’. Schools have to register a Teacher Champion to participate. Save Our Seas Foundation — Ocean Storytelling Writing Grant

The Save Our Seas Foundation (SOS) Ocean Storytelling Writing Grant supports conservation storytellers. SOS is looking for writers who can tell conservation stories about the oceans, from the animals themselves, to fisheries, to the communities whose lives are intertwined with marine life. Story topics can range from the animals themselves, to fisheries to the communities whose lives are intertwined with marine life. Successful grantees will receive a paid assignment to cover a conservation story. SOS seeks to support early-career and emerging storytellers and aims to encourage new voices with new perspectives and writing approaches. The deadline to apply is 30 November 2022.
