The Newton-Mosharafa Fund supports British and Egyptian scientific researchers and innovators to find joint solutions to the challenges facing Egypt in economic development and social welfare through training and researcher mobility schemes. The five focus areas of the currently open call include sustainable water management, renewable energy, and sustainable food production; among two others. The U.S. Department of State announces a funding opportunity for Environmental Governance. The purpose of this project is to improve environmental governance, particularly to address the challenges of air pollution, water, and waste management in Morocco, Jordan, Oman, Panama, Peru, Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, and/or Honduras. Mission Innovation — Prize for Energy Innovations
Through its Champions Program, Mission Innovation seeks to recognize exceptional researchers and innovators who are developing new ways of making clean energy cheaper and more reliable by using it more efficiently. MI Champions will participate in the fourth MI ministerial (MI-4) meeting in Canada (May 2019). The U.S. Bureau of Oceans – Int. Environmental – Scientific (OES) makes cooperative agreements to support fisheries management and governance in U.S. FTA countries. Projects should focus on improving the science-based management of fisheries; monitoring measures to ensure compliance with fisheries regulations; and combating illegal fishing. OES will award one cooperative agreement of up to US$500 thousand or two cooperative agreements of up to US$250 thousand each. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Grants Cycle 2018-2019: South Sudan
The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives offers short-term funding to community groups, NGOs, people’s organizations — and in exceptional cases, to international NGOs and government institutions — for small projects addressing empowerment, capacity-building, economic, environmental, and social development issues in South Sudan. IHE Delft Institute for Water Education — Training Programme on Water Management for the Arab Region
IHE Delft, Clingendael and WaterFocus invite applications for the Shiraka (previously Matra-Zuid) training programme on Water Management from civil servants from the Arab region. The two week workshop will take place in The Hague (The Netherlands) from 20 to 31 August 2018. The Dutch government will take care of all relevant costs for participants from countries on the OECD-DAC list. The courses will be in English, with interpretation into [Arabic/ French]. The European Commission calls for projects that contribute to poverty reduction and social inclusion of people confined in the informal economy and disadvantaged/marginalised groups. The Arab Council for the Social Sciences announces its fifth cycle of postdoctoral fellowships for junior Arab scholars. The program is open to individuals who completed their PhD within the past three years, and who are nationals or residents of countries in the League of Arab States. The fellowship provides for full costs over nine months in the proposed country/countries of residence where the fellow will reside. The thematic focus is open. The Newton Institutional Links support research and innovation collaboration between the UK and partners in any of the following countries: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and UAE. Subject areas for the collaborative research include agriculture, climate and environment, sustainable energy, water and sanitation, and several others — varying with each partner country.
