The Knight Science Journalism Program at MIT seeks journalists from Africa or the Middle East. Participants will receive specialized training, to help reporters and editors from the region to further develop a successful career in science journalism. The selected fellow will join a program of study at MIT and receive a US$40 thousand stipend for the semester. Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development — Development Projects in Arab Countries
The Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) finances development projects in countries of the League of Arab States. Grants can be used for technical and economic feasibility studies; or seminars and conferences. Thematic areas include agriculture and dry lands, water supply, environment, and many others. Free Press Unlimited — Climate Change Fellowship Program
Free Press Unlimited announces two Climate Change Fellowship Programs for journalists in the Middle East and North Africa. The Fellowship Programs will enable 20 fellows to tell a better climate story and inform their audience by creating stories that go beyond highlighting the problem and come with constructive solutions. The fellowship consists of training and individual coaching. All the fellows will receive financial support of €500. Eligible individuals must be journalists or a graduate in journalism operating in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Libya, Algeria, or Tunisia. Restore4Life provides scientific and technical support for the implementation of wetland restoration solutions in Europe. Each associated region can apply for up to €100 thousand in project support. The Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA) is a global technical assistance program to support climate smart projects to access finance. The aim is to facilitate a collaborative approach to unlocking finance for climate projects at scale and creating a pipeline of ‘investment ready’ low carbon projects. The CFA operates in Nigeria, Colombia, South Africa, Egypt, Uganda, Türkiye, Mexico, Peru, Pakistan, and Vietnam. The CFA offers a range of capacity building support to assist climate mitigation projects in accessing finance. The Algerian Youth Leadership Program at the University of Nevada (Reno, USA) is a leadership development opportunity for Algerian and American youth. The program offers workshops and activities about civic participation and the role that social enterprises play in a community. Youth who are eligible to apply must be a legal citizen of Algeria, be 15-17 years old and have at least one year of high school remaining after the program. The Halcyon MENA Fellowship helps founders and entrepreneurs to build Health, Climate, and EquityTech solutions for impact across the Middle East and North Africa. Water and Energy for Food (WE4F) seeks business owners and entrepreneurs in the Middle East and Northern Africa region who have innovative water-food, energy-food, and water-energy-food solutions. Individual awards for innovators are expected to range from US$25 thousand to US$250 thousand, depending on the type of funding requested. The call is open to mid- to late-stage enterprises, nonprofits with a for-profit program, and other organizations based in the Middle East and North Africa.
