The Swedish Institute (SI) provides citizens of South Africa with fully-funded international scholarships for master’s studies in Sweden. The scholarship aims to develop future global leaders that will contribute to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and contribute to a positive and sustainable development in South Africa. The scholarship is intended for full-time one-year or two-year master’s programs. SI fully covers tuition fees and makes regular payments of SEK10 thousand to cover living expenses throughout the scholarship. The application portal will close on 28 February 2023. Expo Live — Innovation Impact Grant Programme
Expo Live supports novel solutions that address pressing environmental and climate challenges. The program offers up to US$50 thousand in funding to support the growth of social enterprises, startups and grassroots projects from around the world that offer creative solutions to pressing challenges. Udaan Youth Club Tyodhi — YouthLeadG20 Fellowship Program
The YouthLeadG20 Fellowship Program is a virtual forum for young changemakers to share their opinion around the possibilities of India’s G20 Presidency and youth-related focus areas, including Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction, among others. Selected fellows will be promoted to YouthLeadG20 ambassador in their countries, certification and direct consideration for similar opportunities. GSMA — Innovation Fund for Anticipatory Humanitarian Action
GSMA Innovation Fund for Anticipatory Humanitarian Action seeks to help accelerate the testing, adoption and scalability of digital innovations that leverage mobile digital technology to help anticipate potential humanitarian impacts and enable effective early response. Successful projects will receive an equity-free grant of between £100 thousand and £250 thousand to scale their innovation over a 15 to 18 month period. The Flemish Inter-University Council (VLIR-UOS) invites applications for Short Initiative projects that aim to build and deepen academic/scientific collaborations among diverse teams of academics and researchers. Short Initiatives focus on a sustainable development challenge. The objective is to strengthen research and educational capacities of higher education and science institutions in partner countries in Latin America, Africa and Southeastern Asia. InsuResilience Solutions Fund — Agricultural Insurance Projects
The InsuResilience Solutions Fund (ISF) seeks projects with a holistic approach on disaster relief and preparedness. The Fund will support the development of new climate risk insurance products or the scaling-up of already existing products with the aim to increase the resilience of poor and vulnerable people in developing countries to climate change. ISF provides grant-based co-funding of up to €2.5 million, but requires matching the grant funding (in-kind and/or as a financial contribution). King Baudouin Foundation — Enterprises for SDGs
The Business Partnership Facility (BPF) awards subsidies to support and develop private sector involvement in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in developing countries. Projects submitted under this call must contribute to achieving at least one clearly identified SDG. The BPF provides non-refundable grants between €50 thousand and €200 thousand that represent a maximum 50% of the total investment. Eligible countries include several from Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa (full list of eligible countries is provided in the call). Partnerships must comprise actors from the private sector, civil society, academia and/or the public sector, with at least one organization from the for-profit private sector. Yale University — Yale Young African Scholars 2023
Yale Young African Scholars (YYAS) offers an academic summer program for secondary school students from across Africa. The program offers online and in-person programs in four interdisciplinary sessions on Innovations in Science & Technology and Solving Global Challenges. Admitted participants will have access to pre-recorded videos before the start of the program and attend live sessions. There is no tuition cost to participate in the program.
