The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Climate Finance for Development Accelerator (CFDA) funds a range of climate change mitigation and adaptation activities focused on scaling up the transition to an equitable and resilient net-zero economy. The Accelerator is a buy-in mechanism that helps USAID missions, bureaus, and independent offices develop and manage climate finance-related partnerships, strengthen enabling environments, and advance learning. Organizations interested in joining the CFIN or becoming a climate finance partner eligible to receive support from the Accelerator, have to complete a partnership intake form. The CS Fund and Warsh-Mott Legacy take an activist approach in making grants to defend the traditional management of agriculture and natural resources in the Global South. Specific interests include protecting local seeds and reducing chemicals in agriculture; regulating the introduction of genetically modified organisms; and supporting communities in their self-governance of natural resources. The EU’s Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) Action Plan includes grants of technical assistance to benefit government institutions and private-sector organizations. Projects need to address the identified themes in FLEGT. Currently, requests can be submitted from entities in VPA countries and non-VPA countries. The VPA countries are Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Liberia, Republic of the Congo, Indonesia, Lao, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Guyana, and Honduras. Sea Pact is a consortium of seafood companies to support continuous improvements of fisheries and aquaculture in an international context. Sea Pact accepts applications from non-profit and for-profit organizations. Past grant recipients include conservation organizations, marine research organizations, development NGOs, and others. Lush makes grants through a Charity Pot to small grassroots organizations for projects in environment, animal protection, and human rights.
