The Australian Aid: Friendship Grants program supports organisations from across Australia and provides funding for aid activities in the Indo-Pacific. Eligible Australian community organisations are encouraged to apply for funding of AUD30-60 thousand in three annual grant rounds. The grants will fund development activities that strengthen an overseas community’s capacity or socio-economic situation and improve the lives of poor and vulnerable people. USAID seeks applications for a Cooperative Agreement from qualified entities to implement the “USAID/Senegal Feed the Future Fisheries, Biodiversity & Livelihoods (FBL)” Activity. The purpose of the five-year Feed the Future Senegal Fisheries Biodiversity and Livelihoods Activity is to improve management of fisheries for ecological sustainability. European Partnership for Responsible Minerals — Responsible Mining
The international coalition of the EPRM is designed to improve conditions in and around mines and for the miners concerned in conflict-affected and high-risk areas. Projects should aim to improve the social, humanitarian, and environmental aspects of mining. Applicants may be companies, knowledge institutions, public or semi-public bodies, or NGOs in any combination and registered in any country. The maximum grant for a project is €340 thousand. U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration — Saltonstall-Kennedy Grants for Fisheries 2019
The Saltonstall-Kennedy program funds projects that address the needs of fishing communities, and that build and maintain sustainable fisheries. The focus areas in 2019 are marine aquaculture; adapting to environmental changes and other long-term impacts in the marine ecosystem; fisheries promotion, development, and marketing. The program is open to applicants in the USA, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, and Palau — with priority for applications from the fishing community, and that involve fishing community cooperation and participation. The U.S. Department of State announces a funding opportunity for mapping and analysis of illegally harvested timber and forest products in global trade. The results aim to influence policy makers and will enable the implementation of future interventions to assist developing countries in combating illegal logging. The Australian Government seeks applications for its Direct Aid Program (DAP) 2018/2019. DAP supports small-scale sustainable development projects and activities in the fields of agriculture; water and sanitation; environment/conservation; and others. Siemens Stiftung sponsors the “empowering people. Award” as a means to identify and showcase relatively simple and smart technological solutions that have business potential to combat poverty in developing and emerging countries. The categories include water and waste water; energy; food and agriculture; waste management; and several others. The products or solutions to be submitted have to already be in use. The competition is open to any individual, team, organization, or enterprise from any region in the world. The top three prizes are €50 thousand, €30 thousand, and €20 thousand, respectively.
