The Royal Geographical Society with the Institute of British Geographers (RGS-IBG) makes grants for geographical research, fieldwork, and teaching that include several awards with deadlines in November. The deadline is 23 November for the Ralph Brown Expedition Award; Thesiger-Oman International Research Fellowships; Hong Kong Research Grant; Walters Kundert Fellowship; Dudley Stamp Memorial Award; Postgraduate Research Awards; and Geographical Club Award. United Nations Environment Programme — Pilot Projects for Efficient and Resilient Energy Systems

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) launches a call on digitalization for flexible and resilient energy systems. The initiative aims to step up global climate action and uptake of clean energy models. UNEP intends to support the implementation of pilot projects across Brazil, Colombia, Morocco, Tunisia, India, Indonesia and South Africa. Projects must cater to the increasingly urgent need to ensure efficiency and resilience of power systems to enable cost-effective clean energy transitions, mainly based on renewables. Applicants can submit a project for a maximum of €1.8 million. Candidates will need to be part of an international consortium that includes both public and private actors. Catholic Relief Services — International Development Fellows Program

The Catholic Relief Services (CRS) invites individuals dedicated to a career in international relief & development work to submit an application to the International Development Fellows Program. Fellows receive training and support CRS’ work in various sectors such as agriculture/livelihoods, health, water and sanitation, emergency response, or micro-financing. The Catholic Relief Services offers 20-30 fellowships each year. Each fellow is placed in one of CRS’ overseas country programs for a 12-month fellowship. Eurasia Foundation — US-Russia Social Expertise Exchange 2022

The US-Russia Social Expertise Exchange (SEE) supports professionals and entrepreneurs in Russia and the USA to engage in a meaningful exchange of ideas and best practices. Projects may request funding of up to US$50 thousand for a period between six and nine months. Candidates must be citizens or permanent residents of either the USA or the Russian Federation, and have professional proficiency in both English and Russian. German Academic Exchange Service — Project-based Personnel Exchange Program with India

The ’Project-based Personnel Exchange Programme’ (PPP) is a bilateral research promotion program to strengthen the collaboration between Indian and German research groups, which are working jointly on a particular scientific project. Financial support is available to support exchange visits to the partner institution and short term stays of scientists and doctoral students. The program is open to academics in the disciplines of agricultural sciences, veterinary medicine, forestry, medicine, life sciences, animal sciences, and others. University professors, scientists/researchers and post-doctoral researchers from German and Indian universities and those in permanent positions at public funded research institutes are eligible to apply. EIT Climate-KIC — Innovation Call for Climate Solutions

EIT Climate-KIC aims to support the development of innovative commercial products or services that achieve climate impact through entrepreneurship and commercial means. EIT Climate-KIC seeks to finance innovators, researchers, scientists, coaches, and experts to join forces in projects that aim to bring innovative solutions to the European market. Innovative actions should address a decarbonization or climate adaptation challenge. Schneider Electric — Go Green Student Competition: North America

Schneider Electric seeks applications for the “Go Green” global student competition in North America. Students are invited to submit solutions to real-life case challenges within energy management or ideas for efficient energy management. The top participants will be invited on a fully sponsored trip to pitch their ideas and receive mentorship from Schneider Electric experts. World Forestry Congress – Call for Registration 2022

The XV World Forestry Congress will be held in Seoul (South Korea) from 02-06 May 2022. The congress provides the unique opportunity for the global forestry community to consider the state and future of world forestry, particularly in the context of the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants come from all over the world and from all sectors, for example, public and private sector, NGOs, CSOs, scientific or professional bodies, and forestry societies, as well as individuals interested in forests and the environment. WFC 2022 supports participation from low-income countries by providing financial assistance to those who would otherwise be unable to participate due to financial constraints. Volkswagen Stiftung — Preventing Pandemics

The Volkswagen Stiftung funds international research collaboration and to generate new insights on “Preventing Pandemics: the Role of Human-Environmental Interactions”. Research should provide a better understanding of the emergence and spread of transmittable diseases like zoonoses, a deeper understanding of the complexity and dynamics of human-environmental interactions and the connections between human, animal and environmental health. Funding will be provided for small interdisciplinary research consortia of three to five researchers. At least one researcher has to work at a university or research institution in Germany, and two researchers have to be affiliated to academic institutions in Low and Middle Income Countries outside of Europe. RECOFTC — Forest Landscape Governance in Southeast Asia

The Explore Preparatory Grant Mechanism (Explore) is a research network and community of practice dedicated to expanding and applying knowledge on forest landscape governance in Southeast Asia. Explore seeks new ideas for research in forest landscape governance, which will be developed into research proposals. Explore will support research preparatory grants ranging from US$3 thousand to US$15 thousand, depending on the complexity and scale of the issues addressed. In addition to funding, Explore provides training and mentorship by scientific experts. The call for concept notes is open to all scientific disciplines and fields of research related to forest landscape governance.
