The WiSER Pioneers Program offers young women aged 25 to 35 access to educational workshops and global networking opportunities. The program empowers young women to take a leading role in the global transition to a net-zero future. Applicants must be employed or self-employed and hold a degree in a field related to the environment, energy, sustainability, or STEM disciplines. Youth 4 Sustainability (Y4S) is a global initiative that empowers the next generation of sustainability leaders. The Future Sustainability Leaders (FSL) program connects university students and young professionals with global leaders to help them learn the latest sustainability best practices. The Sustainability Ambassadors (SA) program is designed for high school students to become Sustainability Ambassadors by offering them core knowledge & skills training. Wild Animal Initiative — Challenge Grants

Wild Animal Initiative provides grants for research projects that help us understand and improve the lives of wild animals. Challenge grants researchers exploring critical research questions that will unlock new avenues of wild animal welfare research and are not prioritized by other funders. Grant size varies from US$50 thousand to US$100 thousand. Challenge grants program is open to experienced researchers, but can include financial support for students or other early-career collaborators. Wild Animal Initiative — Discovery Grants

The Wild Animal Initiative provides funding for projects that expand the evidence base of wild animal welfare. Discovery Grants are available to early career researchers (postdocs and PhD students) pursuing a long-term research career in wild animal welfare and established researchers who seek to expand their research portfolio to include wild animal welfare. Grant size varies from US$10 thousand to US$50 thousand. Projects must be led by a principal investigator affiliated with a university or other research institution. Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance — Accelerating Investments in Climate Resilience 2025

The Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance invites innovative solutions that address barriers to climate investment in emerging markets and support the transition to a net-zero economy. The call for ideas covers four programs, each with distinct priorities. In 2025, the Lab will develop at least nine ideas. Six ideas will focus on five regional programs, with two ideas targeting Latin America and the Caribbean, and three thematic ideas. Selected ideas will receive guidance and support from experts and investors, as well as analytical and communications support. The application deadline is 07 November 2024. More about the Lab

Commission for Environmental Cooperation — Environmental Justice and Climate Resilience

The EJ4Climate Grant Program supports environmental justice and climate resilience for underserved, vulnerable communities, and Indigenous communities across North America (including Mexico). Possible projects under the grant program could include addressing extreme weather impacts, transitioning to clean energy and/or transportation systems, or utilizing traditional ecological knowledge to address climate change impacts. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, community-based associations, Indigenous Peoples and communities, universities, and academic and public research institutions. American Museum of Natural History — Ornithology Research

The Frank M. Chapman Memorial Fund supports ornithological research anywhere in the world. Chapman Research Grants are small short-term awards for research that are available to graduate students for expenses associated with projects primarily focused on the systematics and evolutionary biology of birds. Wild Animal Initiative — Seed Grants Program

Wild Animal Initiative provides small amounts of funding to facilitate projects that will test promising new techniques or approaches, incorporate welfare assessments into ecological research and management, or adapt animal welfare science approaches for wild contexts. Seed Grants are ideal for early-career scientists or more established principal investigators who have no previous experience with wild animal welfare research. Grant size varies from US$2 thousand to US$10 thousand. The small grants program is open to anyone, although Wild Animal Initiative is especially interested in supporting postdocs and PhD students pursuing a long-term research career in the field of wild animal welfare, and researchers who have not previously included welfare considerations in their work. Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation — Youth Actions Challenge

The 1 Million Youth Actions Challenge supports youth-led initiatives related to clean water and sanitation, responsible consumption and production, climate action & biodiversity. Youth between 15 and 24 years from all around the world are invited to submit their solutions and projects. African Development Bank — Mo Ibrahim Foundation Fellowship 2025

The Mo Ibrahim Foundation financially supports the Ibrahim Leadership Fellowship position in the African Development Bank. The Fellowship allows talented individuals to increase and enhance their professional capacity, with the intention of contributing to the governance and development of their countries. The priority for the 2025 selection of the Mo Ibrahim Fellow includes energy (“powering Africa”); agriculture (“feeding Africa”); and others.
