UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council — Biotechnology for Industrial Waste in India
The governments of the UK and India are collaborating to co-sponsor the Newton Bhabba UK-India Industrial Waste Challenge 2017. Projects should address reducing industrial waste and pollution, and improve value recovery from waste using biotechnology in one or more of five defined industrial sectors. The total grant will not exceed £2 million per project for UK partners. The Government of India will provide match funding for Indian project partners. Either a business or a research organisation can lead the project in the UK. Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Tropical Biology — Training Courses, Seminars, and Workshops 2017
The Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Tropical Biology (SEAMO BIOTROP) aims to increase the knowledge and skills of ASEAN professionals and students on a wide range of topics in tropical biology. Unless otherwise indicated, training courses are conducted at the SEAMEO BIOTROP headquarter in Bogor, Indonesia. Priority is for nationals of SEAMEO member countries, especially in the sponsored courses. The remaining BIOTROP courses and seminars for 2017 are scheduled from July through October. COMESA — Kwame Nkrumah Regional Scientific Awards for Women 2017
The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) is partnering with the African Union to offer the 2017 Kwame Nkrumah Regional Scientific Awards for Women. The value of the award is US$20 thousand in each scientific sector: (i) life and earth sciences; and (ii) basic science, technology, and innovation. The application process is managed on a regional basis (Central Africa, Northern Africa, Western Africa, Eastern Africa, Southern Africa). There will be two award winners per region. The Phoenix Zoo (Arizona, USA) makes small grants to support wildlife conservation and science worldwide. Grants are limited to US$3 thousand for one year. Instrumentl is a team of former nonprofit development staff, scientists, and software engineers who share the aim of helping researchers to find and apply for grants. Asian Waterbirds Conservation Fund — Protection of Migratory Waterbirds
Administered by WWF Hong Kong, the Asian Waterbirds Conservation Fund supports the conservation of migratory waterbirds and their wetland habitats in the East Asian – Australasian flyway. Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey — Research Fellowships 2017
The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) awards research fellowships to international highly qualified PhD students and young postdoctoral researchers. Applicants should be non-Turkish citizens who are age 35 or younger. Preference is for candidates who have the potential to contribute to Turkey’s international cooperation in scientific and technological development. The fields of research collaboration include agricultural sciences, among others. The maximum length of the fellowship is 12 months. The application deadlines in 2017 are 06 March through 07 April, and from 05 September through 06 October. Link
Organization for Tropical Studies — Research Fellowship Program 2017
The OTS manages a research fellowship program to support field research in tropical biology and related fields. The program offers three types of awards: pilot awards for exploratory research; thesis research fellowships; and ECTS-GS fellowships. Most awards are restricted to three OTS field stations in Costa Rica. Exceptions are one annual fellowship for research at the Cocha Cashu field station in Peru, and the Hovore-Horn Entomology awards in any Latin American country. Proposals may be submitted in English or Spanish. The application deadlines are 01 March and 01 October. Link
