British Council — Research Environment Links

Research Environment Links grants provide financial support for capacity strengthening and collaboration activities to develop and sustain medium- to long-term relationships in the UK and partner countries. The British Council invites proposals for research collaboration and partnerships between universities and research institutes in Egypt, Malaysia, Morocco, Thailand or Turkey. Each proposal must have one Lead Applicant from the partner country and one Lead Applicant from the UK. Research Links funds any discipline or cross-discipline for up to £50 thousand. Young Water Solutions — Young Water Fellowship Program: Bangladesh

Young Water Solutions supports young entrepreneurs to launch their water and sanitation related social businesses. The Young Water Fellowship provides training, seed-funding and mentorship. The bootcamp aims to empower its participants to implement projects addressing water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), water pollution, and water scarcity. After the bootcamps Fellows can apply for a funding of up to €5 thousand to pilot their business models over 6 months. To be eligible, applicants must be 18 to 30 years old, have at least an intermediate knowledge of English, intend to stay in Bangladesh for at least 1.5 years after the training and spend at least 15 hours per week to work on their social business. International Support Network for African Development — Environmental Education Program

The International Support Network for African Development (ISNAD-Africa) seeks to implement the Environmental Education Program (EEP) to identify environmental challenges in Africa and motivate youth to develop solutions to the identified problems and needs through critical thinking and the application of previously acquired knowledge from subjects in secondary school. The program seeks to provide youth with action competencies that will enable them to develop capacity and long-term commitment to sustainability for everyday life, career engagement or voluntary service as environmentalists or influencers. Each secondary school will be represented by a team of at least five (5) students and a coordinating teacher. ISNAD-Africa will provide technical support, monthly/quarterly meetings, as well as share possible opportunities with the clubs. Aspen Institute — New Voices Fellowship 2022

The New Voices Fellowship is a year-long program that provides intensive media and advocacy training for top development professionals in the developing world. The Aspen Institute aims to select 15-20 Fellows who will write opinion articles, participate in interviews with local and international media, and speak at international conferences. Subject areas of interest include food security, climate change, and other themes. For the 2022 class, Aspen will give special consideration to Fellows whose work focuses on COVID-19 relief, vaccine development, and pandemic resiliency. International Water Association — IWA Development Award

The International Water Association (IWA) Professional Development Award recognizes excellence, leadership and innovation in the water sector, and aims to encourage the continued contribution to the sustainable management of water in low- and middle-income countries. The award is open to an individual, or representative of an organization active in the water sector. The right to submit a nomination for the award is granted to Members of the International Water Association and previous awardees. The call for nominations closes 01 October 2021. World Academy of Sciences — Online Training: Biotechnology Policy and Biosafety Regulations

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) offers eLearning opportunities in technical elements of Biotechnology Policy to regulators, governmental risk assessors, and relevant technical experts in least developed countries. African Union — Agriculture Scientific Exchanges Program

The African Union Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Policy Framework aims to facilitate harmonization of AU Member States’ SPS policy priorities of SPS systems in Africa. The Scientific Exchanges Program (SEP) supports USDA’s agricultural research goals of promoting collaborative programs among agricultural professionals of the African Union and agricultural professionals of the United States. The research areas are aligned within the three overarching areas of SPS including: food safety, animal health, and plant health. The fellowship will last 12 weeks. European Commission — Food Security and Economic Empowerment of Women

The European Commission seeks to strengthen food security and the economic empowerment of women in Vanuatu through the adoption of green growth and the promotion of sustainable food systems. The priorities of this call for proposals are local innovative initiatives that create an enabling environment for smallholder farmers, agriculture diversification, and reducing CO2 emission and/or promoting carbon sequestration. Grants range from €500 thousand to €1.2 million. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations established in a Member State of the European Union or Vanuatu. United States Agency for International Development — Feed The Future Mozambique

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for a cooperative agreement from qualified entities to implement the Feed the Future Mozambique Integrated Resilience in Nutrition & Agriculture (RESINA) program. The goal of this activity is to recover and pursue pathways out of poverty and take part in inclusive and sustained economic and social growth. USAID intends to award one Cooperative Agreement of US$29.5 million in total funding. Eligibility for application is unrestricted. The closing date for applications is 19 October 2021. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency — Grants to U.S. University Students for Research on Global Sustainability 2022

The P3 Awards (People, Prosperity, and the Planet) fund research projects in air quality, water resources, health, and chemical safety. Grants are up to US$25 thousand for one year (Phase I); winners in Phase I will be eligible to apply for larger grants to follow. The competition is open to U.S. institutions of higher education to support teams of undergraduate and/or graduate students. Collaboration and partnerships with colleges and universities outside the USA are permitted (up to 40% of the grant can be contracted to an international partner), but only U.S. institutions are eligible to apply.
