Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency — Country Directed Fund

The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) invites National Disaster Management Offices and relevant national entities responsible for comprehensive disaster management implementation to apply for grants available through the Country Directed Fund (CDF). The call will cover projects that enhance the capacity of Caribbean countries to deal with, respond to and reduce the risks of natural disasters. Ministry of Economic Affairs Taiwan — Taiwan Excellence Awards

The “Taiwan Excellence: Sharing is Caring” campaign solicits proposals for philanthropic events on issues relating to social concerns and environmental protection. The three best proposals will be awarded US$10 thousand each. The funds for executing each of the three best proposals shall be decided by the organizers, provided that the funds for implementation do not exceed US$150 thousand. United States Agency for International Development — Environmental Protection Activity in Serbia

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for a cooperative agreement from qualified entities to implement the Together for Environmental Protection activity in Serbia. USAID will assist Serbia’s biodiversity and environmental protection through provision of capacity building, advocacy support, public awareness and cross-sectoral cooperation. USAID contribution is US$5 million, over the 5-year period of performance. For-profit or nonprofit organizations, as well as institutions of higher education, are eligible to submit an application. Earth Journalism Network — Biodiversity Media Grants 2021

The Internews Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers Biodiversity Media Grants to support journalism networks and media organizations throughout the world in increasing the capacity of media to cover critical issues of conservation and biodiversity. EJN is especially interested in projects that focus on conservation in high-biodiversity regions of the world such as the Global South. Preference will be given to applications from or affiliated with professional journalists, media organizations, journalism schools, and the like. However, EJN will also consider applications by NGOs or environmental groups looking to build the capacity of journalists to cover conservation issues. Fondation Franklinia — Conservation of Globally Threatened Trees

The Foundation Franklinia accepts project proposals focused on in-situ conservation of globally threatened trees. Eligibility extends to any organization with well established expertise and efficiency in plant conservation from any country in the world. Projects must aim at improving the conservation status of globally threatened tree species listed on the IUCN Red List of Threatened species. Funding from the Foundation favors conservation projects with reasonable budgets in relation to proposed activities. A minimum of 20-50% of co-funding will be required. Sustainable Mekong Research Network — Fellowships for Early-Career Researchers

The Sustainable Mekong Research Network (SUMERNET) fellowships are intended for young and early-career (not older than 35 years) Mekong Region citizens with researcher and/or practitioner backgrounds from the countries of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. The Fellow will receive a monthly allowance of approx. US$ 750 to cover basic living costs and accommodation while residing in Bangkok (Thailand). The duration of this grant is 12 months. British Council — Research Environment Links

Research Environment Links grants provide financial support for capacity strengthening and collaboration activities to develop and sustain medium- to long-term relationships in the UK and partner countries. The British Council invites proposals for research collaboration and partnerships between universities and research institutes in Egypt, Malaysia, Morocco, Thailand or Turkey. Young Water Solutions — Young Water Fellowship Program: Bangladesh

Young Water Solutions supports young entrepreneurs to launch their water and sanitation related social businesses. The Young Water Fellowship provides training, seed-funding and mentorship. The bootcamp aims to empower its participants to implement projects addressing water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), water pollution, and water scarcity. After the bootcamps Fellows can apply for a funding of up to €5 thousand to pilot their business models over 6 months. To be eligible, applicants must be 18 to 30 years old, have at least an intermediate knowledge of English, intend to stay in Bangladesh for at least 1.5 years after the training and spend at least 15 hours per week to work on their social business. International Support Network for African Development — Environmental Education Program

The International Support Network for African Development (ISNAD-Africa) seeks to implement the Environmental Education Program (EEP) to identify environmental challenges in Africa and motivate youth to develop solutions to the identified problems and needs through critical thinking and the application of previously acquired knowledge from subjects in secondary school. The program seeks to provide youth with action competencies that will enable them to develop capacity and long-term commitment to sustainability for everyday life, career engagement or voluntary service as environmentalists or influencers. Each secondary school will be represented by a team of at least five (5) students and a coordinating teacher. ISNAD-Africa will provide technical support, monthly/quarterly meetings, as well as share possible opportunities with the clubs. Aspen Institute — New Voices Fellowship 2022

The New Voices Fellowship is a year-long program that provides intensive media and advocacy training for top development professionals in the developing world. The Aspen Institute aims to select 15-20 Fellows who will write opinion articles, participate in interviews with local and international media, and speak at international conferences. Subject areas of interest include food security, climate change, and other themes. For the 2022 class, Aspen will give special consideration to Fellows whose work focuses on COVID-19 relief, vaccine development, and pandemic resiliency. Applications are welcome from all developing countries. The program provides funds to participate in media-related activities and conferences. The application deadline is 20 October 2021.
