The Locally Led Development Initiative seeks to increase sustainability and impact in the areas of regional environmental and sustainable growth; women’s empowerment, and climate change. Concept notes should propose programs implemented in two or more of the following Amazon Basin countries: Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, and Suriname. Funding ranges from US$250 thousand to US$2.5 million. USAID welcomes concepts from local and regional entities who have a solid understanding of the development challenges facing their communities. Mozilla Technology Fund — AI and Environmental Justice
The Mozilla Technology Fund seeks to fund open source projects at the intersection of environmental justice and AI which are making a positive impact in ecosystems and human communities. Mozilla is interested in convening technical projects that have a firm grounding in environmental and climate justice, sustainability, and ecology. U.S Agency for International Development — Climate Gender Equity Fund
The Climate Gender Equity Fund (CGEF) aims to increase access to finance for community-based organizations that advances gender equitable climate action. The Fund seeks climate- and gender-smart fund managers and entrepreneur networks aiming to unlock capital for long-term and systemic change. Organizations may propose to use grant funding for a variety of purposes including building their own capacity to provide gender-smart and gender transformative climate finance. The AGCO Agriculture Foundation (AAF) seeks proposals from non-profit organizations and public universities/educational institutions around the world. AAF considers proposals that increase the capacity of farmers, farming communities, young people and/or women, and facilitates access to the tools, training, activities, and support. Grants between US$200 thousand and US$450 thousand are available. Only non-profits and public universities/educational institutions with innovative solutions targeted at increasing the capacity of farmers are eligible to apply for grant funding. International Development Research Centre — Innovative Veterinary Solutions for Antimicrobial Resistance
Innovative Veterinary Solutions for Antimicrobial Resistance supports research that will identify and develop prophylactic and therapeutic innovative veterinary solutions while reducing the use of antimicrobials in ruminants and aquaculture operations in low- and middle-income countries. These solutions should target the prevention and control of bacterial infectious diseases. A series of grants of up to CA$1.6 million will be issued. British Academy — International Writing Workshops
The British Academy invites proposals for Writing Workshops in developing countries. The aim of the Writing Workshops is to provide access for early-career researchers to the academic requirements of journals, including international journals, and to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to publish in these journals. Awards are set at a maximum of £30 thousand. Funding must be used in the direct delivery of the workshops, and can cover travel and related expenses. The lead applicant must be based at a UK university or research institute. Each application must have at least one co-applicant based in an ODA-eligible country. Science for People and Nature Partnership — Critical Conservation Challenges
In support of the United Nations agenda on sustainable development, the Science for People and Nature Partnership (SNAPP) aims to find solutions for problems at the interface of economic development, nature conservation, and human well-being. SNAPP operates through working groups that represent 200 institutions from more than 30 countries. SNAPP provides up to US$1 million total across 4-6 working groups. Proposals are invited from researchers and practitioners of any nationality affiliated with an academic, governmental, multilateral, or non-profit institution. Standards and Trade Development Facility — International Sanitary and Phytosanitary Requirements
The Standards and Trade Development Facility (STDF) aims to increase the capacity of farmers, processors and traders in developing countries to implement international SPS standards to gain and maintain market access. The STDF seeks applications to improve its food safety, animal and plant health capacity. Grants are expected to help address particular challenges or issues that affect trade to international markets. Projects should have a maximum duration of three years, or less. The STDF offers grants of up to US$1 million for projects that promote compliance with international SPS requirements. EFICO Foundation supports coffee farmers and their families through training and education programs, sustainable income increase, resilience for climate change, infrastructure support, and natural resource protection. About every 3 years, the Foundation organizes a project initiation round and funds projects that aim to improve the living conditions of coffee producers and their communities. Leading House Africa — Research Partnership Grant
Leading House Africa calls for applications from PhD students and postdoctoral researchers affiliated with a Swiss Institution of Higher Education to further develop and foster new collaborations between Swiss researchers and partners in Africa. Proposals from STEM fields, including biological sciences and medicine are accepted. The call will award a maximum of CHF 40 thousand per research collaboration project.
