U.S. Department of State — Combating Wildlife Trafficking in Southeast Asia

The U.S. Government seeks to fund projects that build criminal judicial capacity in Southeast Asia. Funds will support work that increases the ability of Southeast Asia to counter wildlife trafficking. The solicitation scope may also include money-laundering, corruption, illegal logging, and other crime areas that aid wildlife trafficking. The U.S. Government anticipates 3-5 awards of US$750 thousand to US$2 million. Eligibility for funding extends to nonprofit NGOs and institutions of higher education in the USA and internationally. University of St. Gallen — Research Partnership Grants 2023

Research Partnership Grants aim to strengthen or initiate scientific exchange between researchers from Swiss and Latin American institutions in all disciplines. These grants are particularly useful to develop joint project proposals to be submitted to large funding agencies in Latin America, Switzerland, and Europe or to combine already existing and independently funded projects. The Leading House invites scholars from Switzerland to propose mono- or interdisciplinary research projects in any Latin American country, involving bilateral or multilateral partnerships. Belmont Forum — Climate, Environment, and Health

The Belmont Forum welcomes transdisciplinary proposals that address the nexus of Climate, Environment, and Health. Proposals to the Belmont Forum must address one of the following four themes: Decision-science of environmental behavior and implementation; Food, Environment, and Biological Security; Climate Risks to Ecosystems & Populations. Belmont Forum — Climate and Cultural Heritage

The Belmont Forum welcomes proposals for collaborative research on cultural heritage and climate change, to foster collaboration among the research community across several regions. Proposals must address one of the following themes: the impact of climate change on cultural heritage; cultural heritage as a resource for climate mitigation and adaptation; or sustainable solutions for heritage. The Belmont Forum will fund three-year projects. All projects should include 3 funding agencies from 3 different countries. Proposals will be due 08 September 2023. Know more

Earth Journalism Network — Building Awareness about Renewable Energy in India 

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) seeks to boost content production and distribution of information to build awareness about renewable energy in India. EJN will support the production of in-depth content on the subject with approximately Rs 90,000 per selected applicant. Content can be produced in English or local languages, or both. Applications are open to India-based content producers (online, print, television, radio) and other experts with a demonstrated interest in covering the renewable energy sector. Village Capital — Ecosystem Restoration

Village Capital supports 10-12 impact-driven startups building locally viable ecosystem restoration solutions in Africa. The program addresses entrepreneurs championing forest restoration, biodiversity conservation, wetland restoration and water conservation,  sustainable agriculture and climate tech solutions. Participants will receive mentorship and access to an investment analyst. Eligibility extends to (for-profit) startups building locally viable ecosystem restoration solutions. The startup has to have legal incorporation and operations in at least one Sub-Saharan African country. Applications close 14 May 2023. Know more

United States Agency for International Development — Climate Resilient Agriculture

The United States Agency for International Development in Vietnam (USAID) seeks applications from qualified entities to implement the USAID Climate Resilient Agriculture in the Mekong Delta. The purpose of the program is to advance low-emissions, climate-resilient agricultural livelihoods combined with biodiversity conservation to support carbon sequestration, healthy ecosystems, and resilience of vulnerable communities. USAID intends to provide up to US$48 million in total funding over a five-year period. Eligibility is not restricted. The closing date for applications is 26 June 2023. Link

European Commission — Regeneration of Natural Resources and Ecosystems

The European Commission (EC) aims to contribute to sustainable and inclusive transformation of food systems in Malawi. EC seeks projects that focus on better preservation, restoration and regeneration of the natural resource base and its diverse ecosystems. Applicants can request between €750 thousand and 1 million for project implementation. Eligibility extends to district councils in Malawi. UNICEF — Venture Fund for Tech Solutions

The UNICEF Venture Fund makes up to US$100 thousand in equity-free investments to provide seed funding to for-profit start-ups developing frontier technology solutions that can positively impact the lives of the world’s most vulnerable children and youth. The fund supports technology solutions from different fields, as long as they benefit vulnerable populations, including but not limited to, agriculture, water, and energy. African Development Bank — Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa

The Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA) provides catalytic finance to unlock private sector investments in renewable energy. SEFA offers technical assistance and concessional finance instruments. Funding requests must be aligned with three strategic priorities: (1) Green Baseload; (2) Green Mini-Grids; (3) Energy Efficiency. Technical assistance grants are available to public and private sector entities. Applications can be submitted anytime. Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa
