The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) is developing a new data model to enable the publication of richer, more complex types of biodiversity data in the future. Therefore, GBIF seeks pilot projects showcasing how an emerging unified data model can improve how data derived from specimens in scientific collections are represented in GBIF. Applicants selected through this call for proposals will work with the Secretariat to populate a pilot database used to demonstrate a queryable online specimen catalog. European Commission — Civil Society Organizations Development
The European Commission seeks to contribute to green and inclusive economic growth in the Lao PDR by reinforcing the technical capacities of local civil society organizations to promote Climate Smart Agriculture with a special focus on youth and women. Project partners should prioritize the most vulnerable segments of the populations i.e. women, urban poor, low-income households, farmers, unemployed youth etc. Applicants may request up to €1.5 million for their action plans. EIT Climate-KIC — Blue Economy Accelerator
Climate-KIC seeks a service provider to deliver a virtual accelerator program for blue economy start-ups, social enterprises and not-for-profits in the Pacific Islands. The delivery organization must be based in the Pacific Islands and have a presence across multiple islands. The program will support 5-10 innovations with up to a maximum grant value of €80 thousand from across multiple Pacific Islands nations. This call is open to entrepreneurship support organizations located in Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu and Wallis & Futuna. Serengeti Energy — Renewable Energy Incubator Program
The Umoja Incubator is an incubator program for aspiring developers in the renewable energy industry who have big ideas but lack the experience or financial capabilities to submit their proposals to the Serengeti initiative. Serengeti Energy will invest in renewable energy technology (wind, solar and hydro only) with a size between 3 MW-50 MW across Africa. The application is open to any company with projects in Sub-Saharan Africa. The winning projects will enter into a partnership with Serengeti Energy and receive financing. The European Commission (EC) seeks to support the development of agri-fisheries in Bangsamoro. Proposals should address locally integrated agri-fishery systems and market driven value chain developments through a multi-annual action plan, be environmentally sustainable and focus on the use of agro-ecological farming techniques. Grants requested under this call for proposals must fall between €1,5 million and €3 million. The Global Development Network (GDN) aims to strengthen African social science research institutions and boost the production of research by young researchers. Research institutions can receive funding of up to €100 thousand for capacity building activities in support of young researchers. EuroMarine — School on Ocean Transformation
EuroMarine launches a call for proposals to host the inaugural EuroMarine School on Ocean Transformation. The School is an opportunity to host a training workshop that will equip attendees with new knowledge to address ocean challenges and should address one or more of the key priorities and challenges in marine science. The maximum budget available is €25 thousand. Proposals should involve at least three full Member Organizations of EuroMarine, from at least two different countries. United States Agency for International Development — Landscape Management and Conservation
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID/India) seeks concept papers for a cooperative agreement from qualified organizations to implement the ‘Strengthening Landscape Management and Conservation’ activity. The activity focuses on three main objectives: (1) Improved management of protected areas and their corridors for wildlife conservation and other ecological benefits; (2) Improved inclusive livelihoods from ecosystem services, and (3) Strengthened conditions for institutionalizing landscape conservation. EuroMarine funds two Long-Term Scientific Working Groups with a maximum funding of €12,500 each.
