Government of India & European Union — Cooperation on Research and Innovation

The Government of India and the European Union seek applications for collaborative research & innovation projects carried out by consortia of organizations working together on research & innovation in areas of AI, electric energy storage solutions; zero emission vehicles; and biofuels. Any legal entity/organization (public or private research institute/university) established in India or the European Union with expertise in relevant and distinct disciplines is eligible to apply. GSMA — Innovation Fund for Anticipatory Humanitarian Action

GSMA Innovation Fund for Anticipatory Humanitarian Action seeks to help accelerate the testing, adoption and scalability of digital innovations that leverage mobile digital technology to help anticipate potential humanitarian impacts and enable effective early response. Successful projects will receive an equity-free grant of between £100 thousand and £250 thousand to scale their innovation over a 15 to 18 month period. Start-ups, small and medium enterprises, social enterprises, and non-profit organizations are eligible to apply. Applications close on 19 January 2023. GSMA Innovation Fund

CRDF Global — Disrupting the Rise of Disinformation in Biosecurity

CRDF Global announces a grant opportunity to support counter-disinformation initiatives that respond to active influence campaigns that undermine established norms in biosecurity. Grants are up to US$10 thousand to conduct research and develop solutions to discredit efforts by state actors to subvert international biological science. Grants should empower recipients to recognize and immediately and scientifically counter any claim of misinformation. Netherlands Enterprise Agency — Energy Transition Facility

The Energy Transition Facility (ETF) aims to support countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA region) with their transition to a more sustainable energy supply. National governments can request advice and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency will decide how to best support the proposal, plan or idea. Proposals and requests for government-to-government collaboration can be submitted by governments and government partners in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Mozambique, the Palestinian Territories, Tanzania, and Tunisia. The Commonwealth — Blue Charter Project Incubator

The Commonwealth Blue Charter Project Incubator accepts applications for small grants. The program supports the development of governments’ projects that accelerate their transition to fair, sustainable and inclusive marine conservation and maritime development, while mitigating and adapting to climate change. Grants range from £5 thousand to £50 thousand. Eligibility extends to Commonwealth member countries. Application closes on 10 January 2023. Blue Charter Project Incubator

U.S. Mission to India — Environment-focused Short Film Contest and Festival

The U.S. Mission to India seeks to promote climate action by encouraging climate-conscious citizens to create films that spur wider awareness and inspire community action. Therefore, the U.S. Consulate General of Mumbai seeks a partner that will organize film-making workshops, a crowd-sourced film contest, and execute follow-on activities to involve youth and civil society in environment conservation. The estimated total project funding is US$40 thousand. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations, civil society organizations, educational institutions, individuals, and governmental institutions. Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund — Blue Economy in Kenya

Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund (AECF) seeks to contribute to economic empowerment of women enterprises in the Blue Economy in Kenya. The funding window is available for commercial private sector enterprises that economically empower women and young women in the Blue Economy. Total grant funds requested from AECF must be between US$50 thousand and US$400 thousand. The application window will close on 20 January 2023. Link

European Commission — Civil Society Development

The European Commission (EC) aims to promote capacity development of local civil society in Gabon and São Tomé and Príncipe. The action aims to contribute to an inclusive and independent civil society which engages in decision making in the areas of economic development, environment, and food security. Applicants may request up to €300 thousand (Gabon) or €700 thousand (São Tomé and Príncipe) in project funding. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations established in the European Union, Gabon, or São Tomé and Príncipe. The deadline for submission of concept notes is 31 January 2023. More information

Nordic Environment Finance Corporation — Baltic Sea Action Plan Fund

The Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO) announces the applications for Baltic Sea Action Plan (BSAP) Fund. The Baltic Sea Action Plan Fund supports projects that will benefit the ecological well being of the Baltic Sea. The fund finances new initiatives and support activities across the Baltic Sea region including Estonia, Finland, Russia, Sweden, and Belarus. Selected proposals may receive grant financing from €30 thousand to €200 thousand, subject to certain co-financing requirements. Deadline for submitting the proposals is 06 February 2023. BSAP Fund

Land Innovation Fund — Deforestation-free Agriculture

The Land Innovation Fund (LIF) invites proposals for the implementation of projects that present innovative solutions to address urgent issues on climate and environmental agendas for sustainable, low-carbon, deforestation-free agriculture. This call focuses on the sustainable and deforestation-free soy supply chain in South America’s Cerrado, Gran Chaco, and Amazon biomes. The funding amounts vary depending on the complexity of each proposal, ranging from US$500 thousand to US$2 million. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations, academic institutions, local agricultural cooperatives and businesses. Proposals are due 11 December 2022. More information
