AstraZeneca — Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being)

The Young One World Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 3 seeks youth-led projects which tackle the causes of air pollution and focus on the long-term health of young people. Projects should focus on individual behavior change, new technologies, or multi-stakeholder advocacy approaches to change laws/policies. The challenge welcomes solutions from young innovators (18-30 years old). The winner will receive a US$50 thousand project startup grant and 12-months of mentorship from a team of AstraZeneca Young Health Program professionals. The application deadline is 30 November 2022. U.S. Department of State — E-Waste Program

The FRE-E-WASTE program is a two-day workshop, followed by a co-production of a manual on e-waste for Southeast Asian environmental enthusiasts aged between 18 to 35. The program aims to raise awareness on the problem of e-waste and educate that greenhouse gasses could be reduced or avoided if e-waste were properly treated and recycled. Alexander von Humboldt Foundation — Georg Forster Research Award

The Georg Forster Research Award supports the work of accomplished researchers who are expected to continue to develop research-based solutions to specific challenges facing transition and developing countries. Nominees must be nationals of a developing or transition country, excluding the People’s Republic of China and India. The award amount is €60 thousand. Additionally, award winners are invited to conduct a research project of their own choosing in Germany in close collaboration with a specialist colleague. To support the collaboration, the Foundation may grant additional funding of up to €25 thousand. Nominations for the Award must be submitted by an established academic employed by a university or research institution in Germany. The closing date for nominations is 31 October 2022. Find out more

SEED — Starter Workshop for Eco-Enterprises in Kenya

SEED offers valuable resources and professional support to expand entrepreneurial ideas while learning from peers during interactive SEED Starter workshops. SEED Starter workshops consist of a team of 2-5 members that bring in a business idea for addressing environmental, social and economic challenges. Successful alumni are invited to apply for a SEED Grant for up to €1,000 which pays for resources required to establish the new enterprise. Eco-Entrepreneurs from Kenya are invited to apply for the next starter workshop. Applications must be received by 22 August 2022. More

European Commission — Marine and Freshwater Pollution

The European Commission (EC) offers grants to prevent and minimize marine and freshwater pollution from chemical pollutants. Proposals should focus on demonstrating replicable solutions to prevent and minimize pollution in the Mediterranean Sea including its major river catchment areas. The maximum amount of financial support is €100 thousand per region. Applicants must be established in the Member States of the European Union or low- and middle-income countries. L’Oréal — Beyond Plastic Challenge

L’Oréal seeks innovators who can provide plastic free biomaterial solutions that enable plastic free packaging. The Beyond Plastic Challenge is open to established companies, startups, universities and technical centers or laboratories. Finalists will have the opportunity to pitch their proposition in front of experts. Candidates will need to register themselves by 18 July 2022. Link to registration

U.S. Department of State — Air Quality Management in Africa

The U.S. Department of State announces the “Air Quality Management Community of Practice in Africa” program. The program seeks to build a regional community of practice to convene air quality experts to create knowledge and develop best practices to improve air quality monitoring and expand awareness. The total funding is US$440 thousand for a period of performance of up to 36 months. Eligibility is limited to U.S. and foreign non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and public international organizations. The application deadline is 04 August 2022. TED — Fellows Program for Extraordinary Thinkers and Doers

The TED Fellows Program provides transformational support to an international community of visionaries who collaborate across disciplines (many within the thematic fields of the Terra Viva Grants Directory) to create positive change around the world. TED Fellows are chosen based on remarkable achievement, character, and their innovative approach to solving the world’s tough problems. Selected fellows participate in professional training and mentoring with public relations experts, and attend regional meet-ups and retreats for conservation and exchange of ideas. Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development — Sustainable Development Goals Monitoring

The Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD) invites women’s rights and feminist organizations to apply for sub-grants. APWLD will support up to 8 organizations to do monitoring of the SDGs implementation in their country. The aim is to develop the capacity of feminist movements and women’s rights organizations to conduct evidence-based advocacy for the monitoring and review of the Sustainable Development Goals. APWLD will provide each partner organization with a sub-grant of between US$15 thousand to US$18 thousand. Applicants should be non-profit women’s rights and/or women-led organizations from countries in the Asia Pacific region. Interested organizations should submit their application before 07 June 2022. Slovak Republic — Small Grants for Projects in the Ukraine

SlovakAid supports small-scale projects in various sectors, including the sustainable use of natural resources. This includes projects with focus on drinking water supply, wastewater treatment, raising environmental awareness, alternative energy sources, increasing resilience to natural disasters, including climate change, soil protection, halting the loss of biodiversity, protecting ecosystems, and restoring degraded ecosystems. The current call supports local projects in the Ukraine in accordance with the Strategy of the Slovak Republic for International Development Cooperation. The maximum financial support per project is €10 thousand with a maximum project duration of 6-12 months. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations and local authorities in the Ukraine.
