This is the second of three calls planned under the “UK-China Joint Programme in Low-Carbon Innovation.” The call defines five areas related to offshore renewable energy for joint research participation by UK and Chinese scientists and engineers. UK researchers will be funded with five awards in the order of up to £800 thousand per award over three years. Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research — Grants for Conferences, Workshops, Seminars, and Field Days
ACIAR offers sponsorship assistance to individuals wishing to attend a conference, seminar, workshop or field day that directly benefits agricultural research for development. ACIAR also supports organisations seeking sponsorships for this same objective. The priority is for events and sponsorships in ACIAR partner countries and related to ACIAR projects. However, direct involvement in an ACIAR project is not a prerequisite to apply for funding. Riverbanks Zoo and Garden — Conservation Support Fund
The Riverbanks Zoo and Garden (USA) makes grants for field conservation; habitat management; conservation education; ex situ captive breeding; animal health and welfare; and other themes in wildlife research and conservation. Barilla Center for Food and Nutrition — Research on Sustainable Food 2017
The Barilla Center for Food and Nutrition sponsors BCFN YES! (Young Earth Solutions) as an international competition for young researchers on the theme of sustainable food systems. The program offers one-year research grants up to €20 thousand to PhD and postdoc researchers worldwide from any background and nationality. The maximum age is 35. Subject areas include climate change, resilient agriculture, sustainable water management, ecosystem services, food policy, and many others. The competition encourages the participation of teams from different disciplines and countries who wish to combine their expertise in innovative approaches. Parrot Sequoia — Parrot Climate Innovation Grant
The Parrot/Pix4D Climate Innovation Grant consists of hardware and software for field research to foster innovation in understanding and mitigating the impacts of climate change. Proposals should include a geographical/mapping dimension using UAVs and Pix4D photogrammetric software, as well as multi-spectral imagery related to the technical capabilities of the Parrot Sequoia camera. Fauna & Floral International — Global Trees Campaign 2016-2017
Fauna & Flora International, in partnership with Botanic Gardens Conservation International and the Conservation Leadership Program, sponsor the Global Trees Campaign to support master’s research focused on tree species conservation. Research should focus on in situ conservation of a threatened tree species, ideally on IUCN’s Red List, and external to the countries of the OECD. Grants are up to £1 thousand. National Research Council of Thailand — Research Collaboration with China on Renewable Energy
The National Research Council of Thailand is partnering with the National Natural Science Foundation of China for research on renewable energy. Grants will support short exchange visits between Thailand and China on general or specific subjects related to renewable energy for a maximum of 30 days per year. Funding will be available up to a maximum of three years. Each application must designate two Principal Investigators, one in Thailand and one in China. Indo-US Science and Technology Forum — Research on Monitoring Water and Air Quality
The IUSSTF invites applications for the “Research Initiative for Real-time River Water and Air Quality Monitoring.” This initiative aims to develop technologies for sensing, communication, and analysis of large-scale data collected from autonomous networks of perpetual or long-lived sensor nodes, followed by integration and deployment of this information for water and air quality monitoring in real-time.
