Ernest Kleinwort Charitable Trust — Wildlife Conservation Grants

The Ernest Kleinwort Charitable Trust makes grants to charities working in the area of wildlife and environmental conservation in the UK and internationally. The Trust supports UK and international wildlife and environmental conservation projects, specifically scalable work that directly addresses threats to endangered flora or fauna. Applicants must be registered charities. Small grants, up to £10 thousand, are accepted year-round. Applicants may request medium grants (up to £20 thousand) by 12 November 2026. American Museum of Natural History — Ornithology Research

The Frank M. Chapman Memorial Fund supports ornithological research anywhere in the world. Chapman Research Grants are small short-term awards for research that are available to graduate students for expenses associated with projects primarily focused on the systematics and evolutionary biology of birds. Rainforest Alliance — Kleinhans Fellowship for Research in Community Forestry

The Rainforest Alliance is interested in helping communities and small- and medium-sized enterprises to harvest and manufacture forest and non-timber forest products in a sustainable manner, and market these goods to responsible businesses and consumers. The Kleinhans Fellowship provides US$20 thousand over two years for research on this topic in Latin America, with preference for sites where the Rainforest Alliance currently supports community forestry. Partnership for Observation of the Global Ocean — Shipboard Fellowship 2026

The Partnership for Observation of the Global Ocean (POGO) offers several shipboard fellowship opportunities. This fellowship program aims to promote training and capacity building leading towards a global observation scheme for the oceans. Eligibility extends to early career scientists, technicians, PhD and MSc students, and Post-doctoral Fellows involved in oceanographic work at centers in developing countries and countries with economies in transition. Selected candidates will receive subsidies to visit the host institution and to go on the cruise, as well as training on seafaring medical and sea survival. Applications can be submitted anytime. European Research Council — Advanced Grant 2026

The European Research Council (ERC) invites applications for its Advanced Grant 2026, supporting established, leading researchers to pursue ambitious, high-risk/high-gain frontier research projects across any field of science, engineering, social sciences, and the humanities. Applicants must demonstrate an exceptional track record of research achievements and be hosted by, or willing to move to, an eligible host institution in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country. Grants of up to €2.5 million are available for projects lasting up to five years, with an additional €1 million available in exceptional cases to cover eligible start-up or major equipment costs. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Guinean Forests of West Africa Small Grants

The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) invites letters of inquiry for small grants to support biodiversity conservation in the Guinean Forests of West Africa hotspot. This call is open to civil society organizations operating in Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, Liberia, and São Tomé and Príncipe. Projects must align with specific investment priorities related to species conservation and the management of priority sites. Grant amounts are up to US$50 thousand. Explorers Club — Fieldwork by Graduate Students and Early-Career Scientists

The Explorers Club invites applications for the Pathfinder Grant, previously called the Exploration Fund Grant. The grant supports graduate and post-graduate students and early-career scientists conducting field research. Relevant disciplines include anthropology, archaeology, wildlife, botany, earth sciences, marine and freshwater research, ecology, geography, and paleontology, and the Club gives priority to expeditions tackling ambitious research questions over survey data. The Explorers Club invites applications for the Rising Explorer Grant, which funds scientific fieldwork by high school students, college undergraduates, and independent researchers working at an equivalent level. Explorers Club — Conservation and Sustainability Fieldwork

The Explorers Club and the Swedish outdoor company Fjällräven invite applications for the Fjällräven Field Grant, which supports fieldwork in the natural sciences related to conservation, the environment, and sustainability. The grant is open to graduate and post-graduate students and early-career scientists; the Club’s grant criteria also specify explorers under the age of 35. Awards are US$5,000. World Bank — Africa Visiting Scholars Program

The World Bank invites applications for the Visiting Scholars Program 2026, which supports early- and mid-career African researchers in advancing policy-relevant research on development issues. The programme offers scholars the opportunity to spend up to six months at the World Bank in Washington, D.C. Eligible applicants are nationals of sub-Saharan African countries who are affiliated with a university, research institution, or government agency in Africa.
