Conservation Nation — Established Conservationist Grants

The Conservation Nation Grant Program provides funding to help save endangered animals and their ecosystems by building a stronger, more diverse community of conservation practitioners.  The Established Conservationist grant program provides funds to mid-career conservationists from traditionally marginalized communities. Applicants can submit conservation activities or research projects in wildlife conservation. Applicants are eligible for grants up to US$10 thousand. The applicant must be a mid-career conservationist (7+ years) whose home base and place of work are U.S.-based; however, projects and programs can be domestic or international. Conservation Nation — Emerging Conservationist Grants

The Conservation Nation Grant Program provides funding to help save endangered animals and their ecosystems by building a stronger, more diverse community of conservation practitioners. The Emerging Conservationist grant supports conservationists beginning their careers who have the passion and ideas to help save the planet but not the privilege, access, and networks that hold back so many from success. Applicants are eligible for grants up to US$5 thousand. The applicant must be an emerging conservationist (1-7 years) whose home base and place of work are U.S.-based; however, projects and programs can be domestic or international. Global Development Network — Strengthening Research Capacities in Africa

The Global Development Network (GDN) aims to strengthen African social science research institutions and boost the production of research by young researchers. Research institutions can receive funding of up to €100 thousand for capacity building activities in support of young researchers. Eligibility extends to francophone African research institutions on national and regional public policies in the political, social and economic fields. Takagi Fund — Citizen Science

The Takagi Fund for Citizen Science invites grant applications from groups and individuals in Asia pursuing “Citizen Science”. Research Grants may cover research and travel expenses, printing, as well as workshops or symposia to communicate research findings to the public. Training Grants are to support an individual receiving training at educational institutions, NGOs, research institutes and can be used to cover travel, accommodation, tuition or related costs. Maximum grant amount per application is US$5 thousand. The deadline for submission of applications is 05 September 2022. Takagi Fund for Citizen Science

Fondation Segré — Research Support Grants

Fondation Segré supports on-the-ground conservation actions with the goal of improving the status of threatened animal species (terrestrial, freshwater and marine) and their habitats across Asia, the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, and the Middle East. Research Support Grants have a maximum grant size of €5 thousand to support young and early scientists in their research to improve knowledge on threatened species and their role in natural ecosystems. Projects must focus on Lizards, Snakes, or Worm Lizards. Eligibility extends to local or national non-profit organizations. Applicants can submit applications in English or French. British Academy — Visiting Fellowships

The British Academy’s Visiting Fellowships program provides outstanding academics based in any country overseas with the opportunity to be based at a UK higher education or other research institution. Visiting Fellows will work with colleagues at host UK institutions in order to develop new research collaborations and/or deepen existing partnerships. Fellows must be of postdoctoral level or above, or have equivalent research experience. The maximum funding available is £33 thousand. The deadline for applications is 30 November 2022. Government of India — India-Japan Cooperative Science Program

The India-Japan Cooperative Science Programme (IJCSP) aims to promote bilateral scientific collaboration between Indian and Japanese scientists. Applications are invited from Indian researchers/scientists to submit proposals for Joint Research Projects and Joint Workshops/Seminars. Areas for cooperation for research include Life Science & Agriculture, among others. The duration of the projects can be up to two years. The program will cover international travel cost, accommodation, per-diem and local travel. The deadline for the submission of proposals is 06 September 2022. Link to IJCSP

Alexander von Humboldt Foundation — Georg Forster Research Award

The Georg Forster Research Award supports the work of accomplished researchers who are expected to continue to develop research-based solutions to specific challenges facing transition and developing countries. Nominees must be nationals of a developing or transition country, excluding the People’s Republic of China and India. The award amount is €60 thousand. Additionally, award winners are invited to conduct a research project of their own choosing in Germany in close collaboration with a specialist colleague. To support the collaboration, the Foundation may grant additional funding of up to €25 thousand. Nominations for the Award must be submitted by an established academic employed by a university or research institution in Germany. The closing date for nominations is 31 October 2022. Find out more

West African Research Association — Ideas Matter Doctoral Fellowships

The West African Research Association (WARA), in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation, announces support for young West African scholars through its Ideas Matter Doctoral Fellowship program. The Fellowship program will award three doctoral research grants of US$4 thousand each. Priority will be given to research projects focusing on women, technology, entrepreneurship, and a wide range of other fields. The program is open to doctoral students under age 35 who are based in West African institutions of higher education, for research on the continent. The deadline for applications is 14 August 2022. Global Research Council — SDGs Collaborative Funding

The Global Research Council (GRC) aims to accelerate the achievement of the SDGs through collaborative research initiatives. Projects will be funded through international consortia consisting of eligible partner organizations from at least three different countries. Consortia must be based in the following countries: Chile, China, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Norway, South Africa, Switzerland, Sweden, Tanzania, The Netherlands and Turkey.
