Swedish Research Council — Starting Grants in Natural and Engineering Sciences

The Swedish Research Council funds research projects of junior researchers who want to establish themselves as independent researchers within natural and engineering sciences. The applicant for a research project grant must be an individual researcher. The applicant must hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. Swedish Research Council — Research Grants in Natural and Engineering Sciences

The Swedish Research Council invites research project proposals within natural and engineering sciences. The purpose of the grant is to give researchers the freedom to formulate by themselves the research concept, method and implementation, and to solve a specific research task. Applicants must hold a Swedish doctoral degree or a corresponding foreign degree. Individual researchers can request grants between SEK400 thousand and SEK1.3 million per year for a maximum of 4 years. The call deadline is 29 March 2022. Click for information

Fiat Panis Foundation — Prize for Improvement of World Nutrition

Foundation Fiat Panis calls for nominations for the Justus von Liebig-Award for World Nutrition for outstanding achievements in the fight against hunger and poverty. Contributions can be scientific contributions to research and teaching in the field of agricultural sciences, entrepreneurial and organizational services, achievements of a humanitarian nature, or contributions to the communication of world food problems and possible solutions. The prize may be awarded to an individual or institution. The winner receives €25 thousand. The deadline for submission of nominations is 30 April 2022. Self-nominations are not possible. More

Asian Development Bank — Pacific Development Research Partnership

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) supports research proposals from early-career economists to conduct microeconomic development research in the Pacific. This call for proposals is limited to economists whose research focus is on the microeconomics of development, who are experienced in using micro-econometric methods, and who are experienced in using microdata. World Academy of Sciences — Gender Equity and Climate Action

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and the Elsevier Foundation invite applications for project grants for Gender Equity and Climate Action. Grants are awarded to teams of 2-5 women for action-based projects which, although scientific in nature, will take them outside the lab to promote practical and tangible change under the umbrella of the “climate action” SDG in their local context. The project grant is designed to be flexible, with a total value of up to US$25 thousand. The principal applicant has to be a woman scientist, holding a PhD, living and working in a science and technology lagging country. The deadline for applications is 19 May 2022. TWAS – Elsevier

EU-LAC Interest Group — Science, Technology and Innovation

The EU-LAC Interest Group launches a Joint Call to enhance the bi-regional cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation. The aim of the call is to initiate sustainable and multilateral research cooperation between researchers from Europe, Latin-America and the Caribbean countries. Transnational consortia are invited to submit proposals related to six topics in the thematic fields of Global Challenges, Health, Biodiversity, and Energy. Pacific Islands Development Forum — Ecosystems Grant Program

The Pacific Islands Development Forum seeks to support proposals for research innovation and impacts of climate change in the Pacific. The overall objective is to strengthen the research and innovation ecosystems of small Pacific countries. Grants will not exceed €400 thousand. Eligibility extends to academic and research institutions, start-ups and non-profit organizations. Applications should be submitted no later than 28 February 2022. Know more

Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Regional Implementation Partner Madagascar and the Indian Ocean Islands

The CEPF aims to invest in biodiversity conservation projects targeting Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius and the Seychelles. CEPF anticipates to support the development and oversight of a portfolio of approximately 100 grants. CEPF seeks to partner with an organization to serve as the Regional Implementation Team. Eligibility for grants extends to NGOs and other civil society organizations with substantial experience in climate change adaptation and biodiversity conservation. European Commission — Development of Climate Change Risk Assessments

The European Commission seeks proposals for development of climate change risk assessments in European regions and communities. The project is expected to develop an operational more advanced multi-risk assessment framework tool, enhance adaptive capacity of communities and reduce vulnerability to climate change. To be eligible for funding, applicants must be established in the European Union, the Overseas Countries and Territories of the EU, or low- and middle-income countries. Swiss Innovation Agency — Research and Development

Participants from Switzerland and Brazil are invited to submit joint project proposals for research and development of innovative products and applications with a strong market potential in Switzerland and Brazil. The innovation project should be science-based, targeting to achieve advances in new solutions. The call is open for all scientific disciplines; however, projects in biotech, agriculture, clean energy & water, and sustainable cities and communities are particularly appreciated.
