Oak Spring Garden Foundation — Interdisciplinary Residency Program

The Oak Spring Garden Foundation hosts five separate five-week interdisciplinary residencies. Each session is designed to support eight artists, conservation practitioners, researchers, scholars, scientists, or writers who are pursuing work inspired by plants, gardens, and landscapes. Participants will receive a US$2 thousand individual grant and a five-week residence at Oak Springs (USA). Awardees cannot be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program. Environmental Systems Research Institute — Esri Conservation Grant Program

Esri is an international supplier of Geographic Information System (GIS) software, web GIS, and geodatabase management applications. Esri offers free or discounted GIS software, hardware, data, training, and services to support groups and individuals working for social and environmental benefit. Esri’s Conservation Grant Program makes GIS grants to non-profit organizations, programs, and individuals active in public service and nature conservation in any country. West African Research Association — Scholar Mobility Fellowship

The WARA Scholar Mobility Fellowship supports young West African scholars for research visits to other institutions on the continent. The fellowship program will award one predoctoral grant of US$4,000 for travel to West Africa to conduct research. The program is open to West African nationals, with preference given to those affiliated with West African colleges, universities, and research institutions. UK Royal Society — International Exchanges 2025

The Royal Society’s International Exchanges Scheme makes grants to scientists based in the UK who seek new international collaborations. The scheme covers all areas of life and physical sciences, except clinical medicine. Applicants may request up to £12 thousand for travel to/from all countries outside the UK. British Academy — International Fellowships Program

The International Fellowships Program provides support for early-career researchers to establish and conduct their research in the UK. Applicants may apply for research expenses of up to £12 thousand and relocation costs of up to £8 thousand. The applicant must have a PhD and hold a citizenship other than the UK. The deadline date for research proposals is 18 March 2025. Know more

Ekhaga Foundation — Ecological Agriculture and Biological Medicine

The Ekhaga Foundation makes research grants in ecological agriculture and biological medicine. The main focus should be on scientific research and primarily applied research. Ekhagastiftelsen wishes primarily to support strategic and innovative projects of a pilot nature, as well as research that is highly newsworthy and that not just confirms previous findings. It is possible to apply for scholarships, but this is usually only granted for research-related projects. There is no maximum amount. Please note that the total amount awarded is usually in the range SEK 10-15 million. Universities, research institutes, etc., from all over the world are invited to apply. Cooperation with a Swedish institution is an advantage but not a requirement. The deadline for applications is 20 May 2025. Link to instructions

British Herpetological Society — Student Grants

The British Herpetological Society (BHS) offers small grants to current students in support of herpetological fieldwork and other research costs. Projects which benefit species of conservation concern are likely to be favored. The scheme is open to students and research projects in any country, but applications from countries where funds are relatively easy to obtain may be at a disadvantage. Applicants do not have to be BHS members, though this is encouraged. Small grants are up to £300. The remaining application deadlines are 01 June and 01 December 2025. BHS student grants

Royal Geographical Society — Grants with Deadlines in February 2025

The RGS-IBG offers a number of grants for graduate and post-graduate geography research in an international context. Grants range from £250 to £30 thousand. Many awards are restricted to nationals of the UK and EU, and/or students at UK universities. The Small Research Grants, the Henrietta Hutton Research Grant, the Monica Cole Research Grants, the Frederick Soddy Postgraduate Award, and the Frederick Soddy Schools Award close on 03 February 2025. West African Research Association — Pre-doctoral Fellowship

The West African Research Association, (WARA) offers pre-doctoral fellowships. The fellowship is for 2 to 3 months of research in West Africa during summer. This competition is open to U.S. citizens who are currently enrolled in graduate programs at institutions of higher education in the United States. Each fellowship will provide round-trip travel to a West African country and a stipend of up to US$3,500. Applications must be submitted by 23 February 2025. WARA Pre-doctoral Fellowship

The West African Research Association, (WARA) offers postdoctoral fellowships. The fellowship is for 2 to 3 months of research in West Africa during summer.
