The Raptor Research Foundation (RRF) offers seven categories of grants and awards to members and non-members of the Foundation. Each award or grant has different submission requirements and deadlines. The Amadon, Tully, and Brown grants support raptor research internationally. Past grants include several for raptor research and conservation in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Maximum grant amounts in these categories vary from US$1,000 to US$2,500. Rufford Foundation — Grants for Nature Conservation
The Rufford Foundation makes grants for nature conservation undertaken by small and medium-sized organizations for projects in the developing world. The Foundation prefers projects that are pragmatic, and that have a significant human element. There are no restrictions by nationality or country of residence. Grant applications are made in sequential stages: first grant, second grant, booster grants, and completion grant. World Bank — PhD Scholarship for Research in Development
The Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program (RSMFP) provides support to PhD candidates from developing countries to conduct PhD research on a development topic in a World Bank member country other than the Fellow’s home country. The funding is for 6-10 months in any field of applied research that addresses poverty alleviation. The fellowship offers compensation, totaling $42,750 per fellow. Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World — Early-Career Fellowship
The Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) supports female scientists in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) with doctoral fellowships in the natural sciences. The early-career fellowships are for the pursuit of a doctoral degree at a host institution in a developing country that is not the applicant’s home country. The Fellowship is for two years and provides up to US$50 thousand. Applicants should be qualified young women science graduates (generally below 40 years of age), who have an M.Sc. degree or outstanding B.Sc. in the natural sciences. The eligible scientific fields include agricultural sciences; biological systems and organisms; and many others. The deadline for submission of applications is 14 March 2024. Panthera — Grants for Research and Conservation of Wild Cats
Panthera makes grants for research and conservation of the world’s populations of wild cats. The Kaplan Graduate Awards Program (up to US$15 thousand) supports conservation efforts of young biology graduate students working on all wild felids in situ, with a particular focus on threatened species. The Sabin Snow Leopard Grants Program supports in situ conservation efforts on the snow leopard in Asia. The Small Cat Action Fund (up to US$15 thousand) supports in situ conservation and research on many of the world’s 31 small cat species. The Winston Cobb Memorial Fellowship is made to an exceptional early-career conservationist to undertake a field-based internship for training and experience on a wild cat conservation project selected by Panthera. Zebra Foundation — Support for Vets and Vet Students
The Zebra Foundation for Veterinary Zoological Education assists veterinary students and veterinary surgeons from anywhere in the world to gain additional experience in veterinary zoological medicine. The program funds seeing practice at an institution specializing in zoological medicine or research projects (laboratory, field, or clinic-based) leading to advances in zoo and wildlife health. Fondation Segré — Conservation Action Fund
Fondation Segré provides support to address global conservation efforts specifically focusing on the conservation of globally threatened ungulate species as recognized by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. The calls aim to safeguard their habitats, address the threats they face, and promote the well-being of both the species themselves and the communities that share the same ecosystems. The maximum grant size for conservation action support is €50 thousand for a maximum duration of 12 months. The maximum grant size for research support is €7 thousand. British Council — Scholarships for Women in STEM
The British Council launches a scholarship program in partnership with UK universities to benefit women from the Americas, South Asia, South East Asia, Egypt, Turkey, and Ukraine. The scholarship provides women with a background in STEM with financial support to inspire future generations of women to pursue careers in STEM. University of Bonn — SDG Fellowships
The University of Bonn invites international postdoctoral fellows for a joint research project on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The scientists will research and teach together with a professor from the University of Bonn for one or two semesters. The university seeks collaborations with universities and research institutes in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Post-doctoral researchers invited by a professor of the University of Bonn for a joint research project are eligible. The funding can cover a travel allowance, a scholarship of €3 thousand per month, and a research expense allowance of up to €500 per month. Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs — Women-led Clean Energy Enterprises
Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) launches the Improving Outcomes for Women-led Clean Energy Enterprises through Applied Research. The initiative will fund actionable research that aims to build the evidence base on these barriers and potential solutions. ANDE aims to support collaborative research projects led by practitioners and researchers based in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Sub-Saharan Africa. ANDE will fund six research projects on women in the clean energy sector, each eligible for a grant of up to US$60 thousand. The deadline for applications is 31 May 2024. Know more
